Yodel delivery services - AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

I think you might find that "porch" refers to front door. The space in front of the door is a porch. It is also possible that they don't have a drop-down menu option for "front door." Also, if the package is very heavy, you won't find many thieves prepared to tuck it under their jumper and run off with it.
I know you're trying to be fair to them, Flyboy, and normally I'd agree with that but they have left rather a lot of parcels outside our front door, in full view of the street - most of which were light enough for thieves to be more than happy to steal. Added to that, the Amazon logo on the box must be pretty inviting, since it could easily be electronics or something expensive.
I always considered a porch to be at least partly sheltered, even if it's just a jutting out roof. Our front door has nothing like that. I get your point about it possibly being the nearest option to the limited ones on their drop-down menu, though.
It also doesn't excuse their failure to show up every single time I've booked a collection from them - 5 times in all. Five wasted days, waiting in for them.
I realise that they are paid peanuts for their work and, therefore, probably don't give a damn whether they do the job properly or not. I just wish that Amazon would stop using them or Yodel would organise properly paid drivers who will carry out their work as it should be done.0 -
I ordered from amazon...and the delivery was made through yodel ..i checked the tracking and it says that they tried to deliver my parcel but i wasn't in so they left a card...this isnt true as i was in all day and i never received any card...i tried to call them but they want the cards reference number..but i dont have a ref number so they cant help me...what can i do?
Contact Amazon and let them know what has happened. Their customer services are usually excellent and I'm sure they'll sort things out for you.
If you go to the Help section on Amazon, there should be a Contact Us button on the right hand side. You can organise for them to telephone you back immediately - and it is immediately, within seconds!0 -
I'm waiting for a collection from Yodel, Monday will be day six! They did deliver a parcel to me on Wednesday, but they couldn't possibly pick up the waiting one - "it's not on my list"!0

It is not just their deliveries. I waited in all day for them to collect, NOTHING. when I contacted them, they said they would collect the next day - NO APOLOGIES, Nothing.
Their loss, as I now use UPS0 -
Ok so I checked the slip for the collection of my parcel and my OH had booked it for today-but thought he'd booked it for yesterday. It says today's date on the form. They actually arrived too at lunch time (ish). So we'll just see how long it takes to arrive at it's destination.
Blimey, you were lucky they showed up - so they do bother sometimes!0 -

As regards pay, that is a joint responsibility between Yodel and Amazon and to some degree the customer as well. If Amazon would pay more for their deliveries and in turn the customer was willing to pay more as well, the couriers might get more money.
We have four to ten parcels every week through Yodel and Hermes and have very few problems. A few years ago there were a few concerns, but I think that was a matter of expectation on all sides. That said, that year at Christmas, we gave the couriers a bottle of Champagne and twenty pounds each, as a Christmas tip and we haven't had nearly as many issues as we had before. We still tip them as a show of loyalty and as a result they will bend their schedule to suit us, as much is practicably possible.
Sometimes we need things taken to consultants on site and if it is local, the couriers sometimes do it for us without us having to rebook it through the supplier. I realise that those choices for them are limited, but it works quite well for us. If they do this I slip them a few extra quid on the side, because I know their costs are quite high and it might be taking them out of their way. The Hermes courier sometimes turns down the extra, because it is on his way.The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
Surely, if the collection was cancelled, the issue lies with Amazon. What have they said about the cancelled collection?
Amazon did not cancel the collection it is a mistake by Yodel (who I rang this morning). Amazon have arranged for City Link to collect the item now, I told Yodel their services were no longer required!:hello:v :money:0 -

My only Amazon problems have been yodel related. It isn't good customer service to continue using such a bunch of cowboys. The best customer service is when problems don't happen in the first place. Using yodel can't be described as good customer service.0 -

So have almost all of mine and I agree that I'm surprised Amazon are still using Yodel. But Amazon have always gone above and beyond to sort things out for me.
This is why I keep telling people to contact Amazon and inform them about the problems they've experienced with Yodel, hoping that if enough people do this, they might use a different courier service instead.
As I wrote in an earlier post in this thread, the Amazon agent told me that they are currently investigating the complaints agains Yodel. Let's hope that results in a change for the better.0 -
All my Amazon parcels from Black Friday week arrived fine, I didn't even realise it was Yodel until I read this thread.
The first of two more parcels arrived today, tracked online perfectly and arrived the day before the seller thought it would.
Can't fault the service from Peterborough depot.0
