I've been waiting today for them to come and collect an item, they have yet to show-though the time was between 12 and 9pm, so i guess there's still time...

Good luck with that, tattycath. I waited in all day yesterday and they didn't bother to turn up. Not to mention the other 2 items I've tried to get them to collect over the last year - I waited in on 2 different days for each item. That's 5 days wasted so far. They never came in the end and we had to arrange a different courier.

Even worse, the item they've currently failed to collect was a very heavy Amazon delivery for which the cancellation didn't go through in time. So Amazon advised us to refuse delivery and tell Yodel to send it back to them. We did this but they then left it outside our front door (in the imaginary invisible "porch" which, according to them, we have) - in full view of any would-be thieves. So we had to then arrange a collection.

If you're waiting for an Amazon return and they don't show up, then complain to Amazon and they will arrange a collection via another courier. Also, the more people who complain to Amazon about them, the more chance there might be of them stopping using Yodel.

According to the Amazon agent I spoke to last night, they're in the middle of investigating all the problems with Yodel. I'm not sure how true this is but I do hope so.

Ok so I checked the slip for the collection of my parcel and my OH had booked it for today-but thought he'd booked it for yesterday. It says today's date on the form. They actually arrived too at lunch time (ish). So we'll just see how long it takes to arrive at it's destination. :)

I do hope you gave him a mental apology for thinking he wasn't coming! :D

They can't win, can they. :D

I think you might find that "porch" refers to front door. The space in front of the door is a porch. It is also possible that they don't have a drop-down menu option for "front door." Also, if the package is very heavy, you won't find many thieves prepared to tuck it under their jumper and run off with it.

Took today off work for Yodel/HDNL to pick up an item for return. As of 16:45 there was no sign of the Yodel driver, so I phoned my local Yodel depot.

After the girl on the phone took 20 minutes to find my details (I must have provided my postcode 5 times) she informs me that my item was cancelled on the 26th November and that I would have to rearrange another pick-up.

Obviously I asked her who cancelled the arranged pick-up and she said she didn't know.

I asked to speak with a supervisor and she took my phone number and said he wasn't about and she would ask him to phone me back. He never did!

This is not the first time Yodel have failed to appear for a collection.

Why Amazon still uses this company I'll never know. I am so angry at having taken a day off work for absolutely nothing and Yodels treatment of their customers with their inept business.

I informed Amazon who have arranged for City Link to pick it up instead.

Surely, if the collection was cancelled, the issue lies with Amazon. What have they said about the cancelled collection?

Argh, rubbish, rubbish, rubbish from HDNL/Yodel for me too.

Expected a delivery on the 29th. Checked at 9am and it had a status of "The parcel has been loaded on to the drivers van". Nothing turned up. At the 10pm that day the status changed to "Possible delay in delivery due to arrival at incorrect carrier facility" but timestamped 3am on the 29th (i.e. six hours before it was apparently loaded onto a van). It then arrived at a different depot at 3am on the 30th and then back to "The parcel has been loaded on to the drivers van" again at 9am.

Of course, nothing turned up. Again.

Now it claims "Delivery attempted, card left with customer with carrier contact detail" which is a complete lie, no attempted delivery (in all day) and no card. No idea when or if it will turn up.

Amazon, to their credit, shipped a new order without question for next working day delivery via a different courier and offered a small credit. But i've wasted two days with the uselessness of Yodel and assuming Yodel eventually deliver will now have to sort out returning the duplicate. Utter rubbish.

edit: I know that things go wrong in logistics and I know that sometimes drivers unavoidably run out of time, but in those cases don't claim it is out for delivery when it is actually at the wrong depot (29th) and definitely don't lie and claim the customer is at fault for the non-delivery (30th). Other couriers seem to manage a phone call with an apologetic "i'm stuck in traffic and won't make it"
