Neighbours Smoke

It doesn't dissipate quickly at all it lingers in any room it finds it's way into and if your neighbour was gutting fish 20 times a day and at varying times through the night and outside your bedroom window then you might have a comparison to speak of."Life is what you make of it, whoever got anywhere without some passion and ambition?0 -
I would have to say if my neighbours moaned about my smoking outside in my garden i would probably ignore them.0

Yes, i really am this stupid. I just dont get it, i don't smoke at peoples windows, i dont blow it towards there property and i dont have a pipe being fed into their window which when i take a puff i then exhale into. How do you suggest i be more courteous than smoke in a place were my smoke is diluted into such a vast area that within about 40 seconds any dangerous fumes are that weak they are negligible. As for the smell it does stick around abit longer but short of having a catalystic convertor or carbon filter fitted (i am aware this is not possible stroke feasible so there is no need to raise this as me being 'stupid') to me how do you suggest i get rid of this?!
Oh honestly!
All I have said is people should be considerate, if that means moving a few feet to have a cigarette, then do that. Sure, they will probably still smell it, but standing near buildings (especially in flats) the smoke always ends up getting in somewhere!
Overall I am talking about what the OP's neighbours should be doing, if my neighbour complained about the smell of my smoke, and I hadn't already been smoking at the bottom of the garden, I would move there.
I'm not telling anyone that they can't smoke, and shouldn't smoke in their own property / garden.Per Mare Per Terram0 -

I guess I expect too much of people.
I just know how distasteful my habit can be to some, so I go to extra effort to make sure that the smell and litter isn't a problem for other people.Per Mare Per Terram0 -

Maybe the neighbours would foot the bill?
Or maybe they could just not hang out of their bedroom windows and fill our rooms with smoke? Or maybe if they actually shared a bedroom like normal couples do then we would at least have the problem with only one of the bedrooms not both front and back.
Woahhhhh, calm down! I only responded to your post, where you asked 'Have you ever looked at the cost of air conditioning?'. Which I have, and it's relatively cheap.
As you will note from my other posts, I have agreed that certain situations are horrible. But....there isn't really anything you can about it, other than talk to your neighbours about it, and ask if they could refrain from smoking out of their windows.
Or keep your windows shut at night, and use a fan to keep cool? Or perhaps try having an air purifier close to the windows?
But, it's looking most likely, that your best bet is in discussing the problem with your neighbours and seeing if you can find a compromise.February wins: Theatre tickets0 -
You still havent said how i could be more considerate to my neighbours. Unless you have and i am too stupid to have noticed?!if that means moving a few feet to have a cigarette, then do that.
So, it will always find its way into building when stood near them, how is a few feet of air going to prevent this?0 -

Again, read my posts, this is getting tiresome.Per Mare Per Terram0 -

Why does it have to be fish? Cheese is an awful smell for me, which makes me gag! And, living in Holland, means I come accross it often! So, I stand by my comparison. After all, some people love the smell of smoke, and even petrol! Everyone's different.
Do you find that the smoke makes it's way into your house, even when they are smoking in the garden? I've never had that before. From window to window, sure. But usually when smoking in a garden, the smoke dissipates so much in the garden, it never usually reaches any windows/doors. That's just my experience though.February wins: Theatre tickets0 -
We could make comparisons to all sorts of situations and smells, and what to do and what not to do all day long.
As for the OP, i'd politely ask if they would mind smoking at the other end of the garden if it was possible, I wouldn't mind being asked personally. Other than that, I don't know!Per Mare Per Terram0 -

You only know how distasteful it is, because people are so vocal about the smell of smoke. People don't tend to be so vocal about the smell of food.
But, even if they were, I wouldn't expect anyone to not eat/prepare a particular meal because I couldn't stand the smell of it. That is MY issue, not theirs.February wins: Theatre tickets0
