Think I'll wait until next week and if they haven't arrived then seek advice from Information Commissioner.0

I have followed the advice of the site in the first stage of recliaming bank charges. I am approaching two, Halifax and Lloyds TSB. I sent the letters off the same day recorded, paying the £10 requesting the charges, or statements over the last 6 years. Perhaphs they are bogged down, but the 40 days expires on 29th and I have yet to receive a response from either. I have the confirmation of reciept, what would be your suggested action if I do not get the charges list back by the 29th ?.
I believe they are breaking the freedom of information act. Can I a measley humanoid instigate prosecution procedures against one of these big banks? And if I did take this step what would be my benefits apart from getting the letter of charges?

My friend has now been waiting 86 days to receive her statements from the Halifax, they banked her cheque and sent her 3 years worth of charges but nothing else. She has complained to IC, tried phoning the suggested dedicated reclaiming charges telephone number at Halifax but is just on hold - once for 30mins! She's written twice more, but no response, it appears that she is powerless. What do I suggest to help her now?0

I have sent off my letters to Cahoot and Littlewoods for my statements and not recieved anything, I followed this up with a letter using the template from Rex Mundi. Still nothing. I have then e-mailed them both and telephoned them, still nothing as I can never get through. Can you suggest anything else.
Stupidly I sent cash to these two as I had run out of cheques so cannot tell if they cashed it or not and worry that, that will be there defence if I complain to the IC.
Should I start from scratch and send a cheque this time?0 -

You have no choic but to start court proceedings for a random amount, all other routes have been tried, I'm gonna have to do the same with my other half account0 -
hi i am new to this. i am claiming my charges back, of course i did not have six years statements soo i wrote the template letter enclosing a cheque for ten pounds. both the cheques (dealing with two different banks)have been cashed but i had not heard any thing in 40 days so i rang the banks and got told that because they are so busy dealing with this stuff it will take up to 8 weeks to recieve statements. is this right is there any thing else i can do????0

They must be inundated, but that's the fault of their senior management. If you haven't received your information within 40 days of them receiving your request, report them to the Information Commissioner. Mind you, his people must be snowed under too - there's only one of him.The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0

Speak to your local branch, the bank's complaints/customer service department and their head office, I would do this daily to each department/branch until you find someone who will deal with your request for the information/statements.

But please try not to take your frustration out on the person answering the phone
Also check if you can download your statements online as you can with Lloyds and HSBC.
Camp on their doorstep if necessary but please don't estimate charges or you'll fall at the first hurdle.0 -
