Sent on 5th April giving 40 days - the cheque hasn't been cashed either.
Should I give them a ring?Holiday of a lifetime - December 2010

I bet they will tell you that they haven't received it. If the cheque hasn't been cashed, you can't prove that they have - unless you sent it Recorded Delivery. This way, they postpone the inevitable by another 40 days! Crude, but effective. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0

Cool, thanks (well, not cool, but you know what I mean). Even if they had received it would there be a record of it on my account? Is it even worth me calling?Holiday of a lifetime - December 2010

Yes, give them a quick ring, if only to find out what the situation is, one way or the other.
It is probably that the poor staff trying to deal with all these requests are SO busy, that they have boxes of envelopes, which they haven't even been able to open yet!
On the other hand, the bank management could have realised that this is an easy way to try and put off potential claimants. (If I am being a conspiracy theorist here, I hope they're not reading this!)The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0 -

I have recieved by bank statements from IF and Co-op sent the letter requesting bank charges plus interest, received a letter from IF on the 25th April stating that a Service Quality Consultant will investigate my concers and will inform me of outcome but does not give me a time scale. The Co-op bank wrote to me dated 26th April stating that the Customer Relations Team will be in touch within the next four weeks.
I want to know what I do next if I dont hear anything after the four weeks with the cooperative bank and with IF giving no time scale what do I do with them.
Can anybody advise me which letter I send next or if I telephone.
Please help me if you can.0 -
Hello! I'm after some advice. I sent the first letter to my bank (Barclays) requesting statements, they replied within the 40 days by sending a letter saying that they would be sending a copy of my statements within the next few weeks. That was on 04.04.07. Should I wait or do something? If so what? Please help! I must say they did send my cheque back!0

Speak to your local branch, the bank's complaints/customer service department and their head office, I would do this daily to each department/branch until you find someone who will deal with your request for the information/statements.

But please try not to take your frustration out on the person answering the phone
Also check if you can download your statements online as you can with Lloyds and HSBC.

I have sent 2 letters to the hsbc over the last 10 weeks asking for the total of my charges from feb 2001, as yet they have not replied, how can i take them to court for bank charges when i don't know the total claim for those bank charges. At the time when we got the charges and let me tell you they were loads, we had some serious debt problems because a year previous my wife had to change her job because of health problems, we lost £500 per month because of this, the bank kept charging us at every opportunity and i pleaded with them for some leaway but to no avail, the banks charges very nearly finished our marrage and we will never forgive them, one of those charges i got because we only had £10 left in our account on the thursday, we were due to be paid on the friday however a direct debit was due on the thursday of £12.95, so i asked the bank if they could pay it until the following morning? they refused and charged us £25 for not paying it, of course now we were £15 overdrawn, and then they charged us £25 for been overdrawn so now we were £40 overdrawn and the £12.95 direct debit still hadn't been paid.0
