After 40 days they are in breach of the Data Protection Act, so they need a reminder to that effect.
It's recommended to give them a further 7 days after which they will be reported to the Information Commissioner. Put this to them in writing. There is a template on this website for that purpose.
In my case, my 40th day ended on 18 April and Intelligent Finace emailed me to say I would receive the information by then. Sure enough, the breakdown of charges arrived on the 18th.0 -

Hi, I sent my first letters (I have three accounts) asking for statements in march which gave Halifax till last week to reply. When they didnt I sent the letter giving them 7 days or I would report them, that ran out today. I received a letter regarding only one account with information they say I had requested. However I thought I would get pages of statements to go through with all transactions on, I only got a sheet with not alot written on it. Is this what I should expect and should I report them for not replying with the other two accounts. Oh, they cashed the three £10 chqs I sent weeks ago!
Hope someone can help as I posted this somewhere else and didnt get any response
Thanks0 -

FYI - The £10 fee is per REQUEST, not per ACCOUNT. This is a statutory fee they can charge for the request for access to information about you, regardless of how many accounts you have.
Sounds like you want to request that £20 back from them as well!0 -

Hi brokejack,
They have 40 days as you should have put in the letter asking for the information. Did you use the letter off this site - if you did they have 40 days then report them to the information commissioner.
I'm helping my bro with his Lloyds account and he rang them a week before the 40 days was up and threatened that he'd contact the commisioner and 2 days later he had the list.

I Have Statements Dating Back To Aug 05. Prior To This I Had A Different Account But With The Same Bank. I Do Not Know The Number Of That Account Held Prior To Aug 05, I Do Know That I Opened That Account In 2001. Because I Dont Have The Number, The Bank (nat West) Wont Let Me Have My Statements! I Have Been Trying Since Dec 2006 To Get These Statements, To No Avail. Should I Estimate The Charges Based On The Statements I Do Have? I Am Certain That The Charges Since Aug 05 Month For Month Are Less Than They Would Have Been Between 2001 And Aug 05. Would Really Appreciate Some Help, Thanks, James.0
