Write advsing that you will be making complaint to the Information Commissioner at the deliberate delay in issuing details of your account. They are anticipating a reclaim of charges and deliberately stalling you and it is not acceptable. Then file your complaint to the ICO, the more complaints they receive the better. :)

Obviously the most frustrating part of reclaiming as everyone just want to get started to their claim.

The only advice I can offer is send the letter by Rex_Mundi, linked previously in this thread and keep badgering your bank daily until you get the statements.

Do report to the ICO as well.

Just keep asking your bank as above.

Sorry if this is in the wrong place but I have tried for advice and had no response. So here goes again!!! I requested statements for three of my Halifax bank accounts and after 40 days of hearing nothing I sent the next letter giving 7 days or I would be reporting to information commissioner. That ran out yesterday, however Halifax sent only one letter regarding one account telling me they sent info I requested. It reads as this, 2004-07-01 20.00DR
What does this mean???? Also do I report them for only sending one letter and do I ring or email information commissioner???
Please help as I seem to have got no where and dont know why so many others actually get statements. Oh and they cashed the three £10 chqs I sent.

go to you rlocal branch and complain and demand to see manager/supervisor state your problem and ask them to ring head office from branch and get them to email you your charges i did this and it worked

    its worth a try

take your relevant letters etc you ve sent and say your not happy and they have gone over their allocated timescale and if nothing is resolved you ll be informing the information commisioner about the matter

its far harder for banks to fob you off to your face than thru letters

so get down to your branch

let me know how you get on! good luck
  • I seem to be having the same trouble as yourself with Halifax, they have cashed my cheque for £10 and sent me a letter within the 40 days, telling me they have requested duplicate statements. I am still waiting, they should have sent them by the 7th of April, my problems is WHAT DO I DO NEXT?? Could you please inform me of the commissioners email, address, I would very grateful. After reading your notice I believe the next step is to give them 7 days letter? Please reply.

There is a link for the information commissioners website but when I went on it I was unsure if I was meant to email or send letter, and which part of the website to go to! Websites and computers are not my best point and I find it difficult to go through never mind trying to get my charges back!!!
