What's all this talk about working days? It's calendar days, so don't give the banks too much leeway!

  • Hi everyone. My husband recently requested details of bank charges using the draft letter on this site and has had no reply. The letter was sent to his banks head office (not sure if thats who to of sent it to) on the 28th Feb. Was wondering what the next step for non response is. Many thanks in advance for any help/advice.

I would send it to your local branch where you bank. That what l did but l would put in the letter that l sent l letter to your head office and cant believe they have not replyed.I would put a copy with that date in with your new letter.I know they get so my time but that taking things a far. That way if they dont respond you can go in and cause a fuss which they wont like in front of other customers.

Hi(this is my first post) :)
my 40 days is up(41 days today)

just got off the phone to HSBC they said if i sent the request for my last 6 years charges/statements by letter they wouldnt have received it or it wouldnt have gone to the right department(altho i used the address in martins guide, I also told him i sent it recorded delivery), and you can only receive it by telephoning them. now i have to wait for ANOTHER 40 days can they do this? it doesnt make sense to me as i thought a letter was official and they had to reply to all letters?
Royal mails website says the letter was delivered

Speak to your local branch, the bank's complaints/customer service department and their head office, I would do this daily until you find someone who will deal with your request for the information/statements.

If you bank with HSBC you can view the past 6 years of statements online.
