  • hi all, me again.
so after the great response last night and ready to send off a letter to the information commisioner, i actually got a response from Lloyds this morning. They've sent me a printoff of my charges. Sounds good. Its not. They missed off the majority of all the charges. They've basically just printed off their screen on their database but have not included all the months. Now I can tell this as I have online banking. Can anyone tell me where to go now. Shall I reply to them (using the pre paid envelope...shocking!) and ask for a more detailed statement, this could take another 40 days. Or shall I print off my online statements and tally it up and send a request for reimburement off?
Any help will once again be greatfully recieved!

If you have all the charges showing online use that to start your claim as that will do. Please read the Reclaim Help Thread, link in my signature for all the information you need to get your claim started.

marco1com, you'll find the link to ICO in post 609

I went into my local Branch of Barclays Wednesday and asked whether they had any information on where my bank statements were. (I requested them 7th March and had a letter back 14th March saying they would come within 40days)

The girl in the branch filled out a complaint form and then yesterday evening i received a phone call from the complaints dept saying that they had massive demand for statements and that they would be with me within 14days.

I phoned the Data protection dept on Wednesday and asked them what was being done about my statements and they said they would be sent out straightaway. (I have moved since the intial letter which might have confused things!! What should i do? Wait for the 14days or send the next letter giving them 7days to give me my statements?

    Any help gratefully appreciated.
  • Has anyone had this problem. I am 1 week away from the 40 days in which the bank is required to send me the requested information. I have now had a letter saying that due to the high volume of demand they cannot get it to me before the 40 day deadline. What do I do know? I look forward to any advice you can give. I`m an not giving up now!
    Thankyou
  • Sent standrad letter to MBNA requesting details of all chages and the 40 day period expires today - no communication or acknowedgement whatsoever. Check Royal Mail site as sent by Special Delivery and it confirms it was delivered and even give a copy of the signature.

Where do I go from here ?? The second letter doesnt seem to apply as it appears that it is sent after the information ahs been provided ???

    Many Thanks

hi, finally got a reply to 1st letter from hbos(which i sent on 05/03/07). They pleased to confirm the information i requested has now been ordered. Once these documents are ready they will be sent direct to me. No definate date so i'll follow it up with phone call to 01422326398 on monday and still report them for breach.
  • I'm new to this forum but seems great that alot of people have had success with getting the illegal sums charged by the banks back!. :j

I sent the template letter to get my statements back on the 1st of March and had a reply about 2 weeks ago from Barclays Data protection centre saying they wouldn't charge me for the pleasure of getting my statements back and returned my cheque?
Has anyone else encountered this situation or are the banks starting to change their attitude towards us 'customers' in a good way ?
    OR
Is this another way of stalling the process as they replied within 40 days but now it's still 2 weeks+ over the 40 days I still have no statements. The letter did say as I'm asking for 6 years some will be archived and will take longer to get to me.

I'm unsure how to proceed now, should i send another letter chasing them up, give them benefit of the doubt as i am asking for 6 years worth of statements or should i threaten action via the Infomation Commissioner as stated on the website?

Any help or advice would be much appreciated

    Cheers

    Matt

Lulling your victim into a false sense of security (by sending your cheque back within the 40 days) and then using the usual delaying tactics is certainly a new combination.

As they say the old ones are archived, at least it shows that they know where they are. I presume they know where the archive is. If it takes them 40 days to get to it, it must be a long way away, though.

Give a bank the benefit if the doubt? I am sorry, but I am just going to have to slap you, as you are obviously delirious.

The next step is a letter in the post to the Information Commissioner on Monday.

It is your claim - they will try every trick in the book to delay, confuse, divert and bully you, to try and make you give up and go away. You think they are playing hardball now? Wait until actual money is involved! Keep to your stated timetable - if you give them a deadline, keep to it - not 1 day more or less.
The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life. :)

HELP! I have sent initial letter to RBS giving them 40 days - no reply. Sent 2nd letter giving them another 7 days - no reply. Reported them to ICO and also phoned them asking what to do next, they are also snowed under and have a big backlog and could not give me any advice or time scales. What happens next I can not take RBS to court as I don't know what the charges amount to. How long do I wait for statements. Someone else must have had this happen to them. Please advise.
