Silly me. Found the answer to my question at the top of the page. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Just one more question though please. I think I read somewhere that if the banks do not comply with information reguests that it is possible to make a rough estimate of what you think you have been charged and then write asking for that back as an interim payment. Is this correct or did I dream it?0 -
JUST PHONES HALIFAX BANK AND TOLD THEM THAT THEIR 40 DAYS WAS UP AND I HAD NOT HEARD ANYTHING FROM THEM HE TOLD ME IT WAS 40 BANK WORKING DAYS AND NOT 40 DAYS CAN THIS BE TRUE ????:rolleyes:Debbie Jones0

It's 40 CONSECUTIVE days, not banking days. Just to avoid any confusion, I worked out 40 days from the time they would receive the letter and included the actual date in the letter itself.0

Iv been waiting on Clydesdale bank sending me the information on what charges i have had over past 5 years. I got a letter today saying.........
" refering to our previous correspondance acknowledging reciept of your request for details of charges.......
Within the terms of the data protection act we have 40 days in which to provide you with the information. The end of this time has almost been reached, however due to the high volume of request we have, i regret we are not yet able to provide you with your information requested.
Whilst you are within your rights to refer the matter to tht information commissioner at the end of the 40 days period i confirm that we shall provide you with the information as soon as we possibly can"
Can someone tell me where i stand on this matter? Whats stopping them saying this again when the 40 days are up?

To be fair the banks are inundated with requests for details. Abbey, to their credit, have simplified the system of delivering the data to try and get them out quicker, for one. There is nothing stopping them saying this again but there is also nothing stopping you from reporting to the ICO for the delay as they suggest. There is little else you can do now but wait for your details. You arent the only one unfortunately0 -
they use an 0845 number rather than 0870 anyhow
I was just asking as you don't want to be calling a normal banking helpline0
