Always check if you can download statements with online banking and/or camp outside your local bank :)

Send the above letter or phone as you can see the above poster had success phoning Barclays.
  • Hi, I sent my first template letter to LloydsTSB 40 days ago along with a £10 cheque, requesting details of my charges on both of my accounts with them. I have not received any reply, what shall I do next?

Sorry, that sounded harsh. Technically, they are in breach of the Data Protection Act. Realistically, do you have statements available? If so, proceed as normal. If you need the information, threaten to make a complaint. It will take ages for a resolution if you do need to make a complaint but it may get them going.
  • Did you send the letter by recorded delivery Claire ?

They may not have actually received/read you letter till after a few days. has it just gone 40 days ?
  • I sent a letter to MBNA, Egg, Citibank and to the Halifax on the 30th of March requesting all my credit card charges for the past 6 years. It is now 21st of April and I have not heard anything from any credit card company. The Halifax and Citibank have cashed my £10 cheque but the other two have not.
Advice needed as it will be soon the 40 days from when I sent the first letter.

Thanks any help would be great.

Well HBOS 40 days is now over, so I am sending the following letter to them,
I sent a letter and £10 cheque on the 11 March 2007 requesting five years of bank statements as is my right under the Data Protection Act. I have been expecting copies of my statements within the 40 days stipulated under the Data Protection Act. As yet I have not received any correspondence from you, although records show the cheque has been cashed.
By not supplying the Information I requested, you have breached my rights under the Data Protection Act. You leave me with no alternative that if I do not receive copies of my bank statements within the next seven days, I will forward copies of my requests to the Information Commissioner.
I look forward to your timely response.
I amended the template on here, as I originally requested five years, as I am in Scotland.
I will send it Recorded Delivery, and hope for a response soon.
  • Still waiting on barclaycard who are now up to 50 days and counting, have sent them Rex mundi§s template letter still no response after 10 days so have reported then to the ICO!

    Hi there

I sent the letter to my bank sign for statements of my bank charges and a cheque for £10 on approx 28 February. I heard nothing for ages but checked my statement and on the 3rd of April they took the tenner out.

I haven't received any statements as of yet but i moved house and i haven'tchanged my address with the bank (as I've just been a bit lazy as i rarely use that particular account now), however i have a royal mail redirection set up so it should still come to my current address anyway.

    What shouldi do now?

    Thanks
    Abbas
  • Help please,

I sent the standard letter, to request statements from the last 6 years to Halifax. (The account with Halifax was ended about 3 years ago because of all the charges they were adding to my account, plus they put something on my credit report to that effect!)

It is getting near the 40 day deadline for them to send it. I went to the http://www.ico.gov.uk/ (Information Commisioner) website, but where do I click to report the bank for not sending the statements?

Could someone help me please?

    Peter.
