Am I right in understanding 40 days is normal days Monday-Sunday?
Thanks Kieran0 -
Please could someone help me?
I sent off my first letter over 40 days ago and have had no responce what so ever.
I didn't send it via recorded delivery and I am worried the bank will say that they didn't receive it.
Do you think it is ok to phone and ask for my statements to be sent to me? I didn't want to have to ring them but was wondering if asking for them over the phone was ok?
What do I need to ask for exactly as I dont want to have to pay over £10 for them.
I am with Barclays is there a specific number I need to call?
Thanks in advance!0 -

You should make Subject Access Requests in writing. They may entertain you over the phone, but if they 'forget' again, you have no proof of the request. The only reason to call, would be to confirm if they've received your original request. If not, I suggest you send another letter in writing, this time recorded delivery.0 -
Thank you Nickmack!!!
Do you know what number I should call? Is there a specific number to call or just their usual main helpline number?
Thanks!!0 -
Well I just rang my bank and they are sending out my statements free of charge, they are saying that they haven't received my first letter.(hmmm thought they would say that)
Anyway they said that if you are requesting statements to reclaim bank charges they will not charge you.
Keeping fingers crossed!!0 -
Hi - was wondering if anyone knew a bit more about this legal stuff than me. I wrote to Barclays requesting my statements of a closed account back in February, I got a letter (and my cheque!) 4 days later saying that they would supply the statements "within the next few weeks", well that was 50 or so days ago!
I was wondering if there was a time frame that they had to stick to, or whether by sending the first letter that complied with the 40 day rule under the Data Protection Act??
Should I write again?
Any help appreciated! Thanks0
