    Hello Captstanleyblade,

I'm not an expert on the bank charges thing but I've done it myself (against Halifax) and won. From reading other posts it may be worth reminding Barclays of their obligation as it's likely to get a faster result than the Information Commisioner. If they still don't play, then straight to the I C.

I wouldn't send the 2nd letter with the charges you think they owe unless you already have most of your statements and are confident that you've calculated the corrct amount, there are likely to be more than you think and you wouldn't want to let them off!!!

I totally agree that you should try and get the full amount back even though as you say them dropping the court action is a result in itself.

Sorry for the long reply and good luck.

do you have access toy our account online? If so you can get 5 years accounts straight away (click on statements). They are legally bound to send you the information you have requested bu are taking quite a while to do so - ours took 35 days.

  • Hi i was wondering if anyone could give me some advice please.

My bank stalled me for 40 days from giving me my statements. During the 40 days i phoned several times and took names where i could.

40 days after my inital request i sent off a letter together with my call log to the Bank stating i would report them to the Information Commissioner i didn't get my statements within seven days.

After three days i got 4.5 years statements!
The seven days are up today and i have got no further statements!
How would you guys look at getting your further 18months statements?
Is it worth reporting them to the information Commissioner?

Hi all, Having sent a cheque for £10 along with the letter asking for a list of all th charges I've had I received a letter from my bank (HBOS) saying.

Thank you for your latter requesting specific information on your account with us. I can confirm that copies of duplicate statements have been ordered and will be sent under seperate cover within 21 days.

If you requested information relating to manual intervention on your account, I regret HBOS plc is under no obligation to record this information and therfore, I am unable to assist further with your request.

Could someone help me out as Im not sure what my next move should be and I dont really want to be charged for 5 years worth of statements.

    Many thanks
  • Hi I got my 6 years bank statements from Alliance and Leicester but it did take a while!!! Hold on little longer and see what happens

Hi I've just noticed that my cheque for £10 has been cashed. Do you think I will be charged more for the duplicate statements they say they are going to send.

Sounds to me like they are sending the statements for £10.

I don't think that part is relevant.

I received the 1st letter back from Barclays this morning, with my original £10 cheque, saying that they are unable to supply a list of charges and are sending me 6 years worth of statements instead. When I called the number on the letter they explained that they do not have a record of charges they have given me (in this day and age?), only statements.

Will this mean I have to trawl through 6 years worth of statements, or is this a delaying tactic?

Apologies if this has been asked before.

No that's normal. You didn't really expect them to do the work for you, did you?
