MelandRuss wrote: »Hi Everyone,
I'm after a little help please.
I ordered a toaster and Kettle set from an online retailer, as the toaster is faulty i contacted them within 7 days and asked for a refund.
They have offered me a refund for the Toaster but state I must return the Kettle at my own cost if I want a refund, they are treating them as separate purchases even though they were bought as a set.
Can they make me pay to return an item that was bought as part of a set.
Thank you.
Something like this should be treated as a single product, and a fault in either component means the product as a whole is faulty.
However, if you just bought kettle from range X and a toaster from range X to match it at the same time, they are two separate purchases.Competition wins: Where's Wally Goody Bag, Club badge branded football, Nivea for Men Goody Bag0 -
1- If I hadn't quoted the SOGA then I would have just bought another tv! This is very sneaky that the refund/replace response to the SOGA would not be an option for those who don't know about it!2 - Surely extended warrantys are nonsens then?3- The guy who took my faulty tv told me that he thinks they are all just binned. It was clearly a minor fault that could have easily been fixed by an expert. What a waste!Competition wins: Where's Wally Goody Bag, Club badge branded football, Nivea for Men Goody Bag0

I do understand what you mean & of course i ask you & sharing with u. thanks0

Thank you Tom for your expert opinion, I don't know how I managed without it.
1 -The fault was the television. How could I misuse a tv? If they did try and investigate, they would see that it was not my fault.
2 - You're confused opinion on extended warranties was pointless and unwanted.
3 - Clearly, the waste of the tv is not my 'problem' but I am expressing an opinion that I think it is wrong and I think the majority of people would think that as well.
I couldn't give a hoot what your opinion is on anything. I posted it in a positive way to let people know that it pays to be tenacious.
I understood that it is a public forum to post things that would be helpful to others.0 -
Good god - I wish I hadn't bothered! Some people are so miserable and rude!0

Hi lollyp
I don't think that posters have been rude - they have merely been pointing out, quite correctly, that the subject for this thread is questions...
A better place for your post would be to join a similar thread about the supermarket you shopped with and add your helpful information into that one.

I've noticed that the DD has appeared on my bank but no money has ever been taken (it was set up in Oct 11) When I've looked at the contract I signed at the time, they have typed for the first payment to be taken October 61 - now this is obviously a typing error, but they've signed it and I've signed it - if I tell them now and start paying, can they make me backpay to last October, even though its their error?
Thanks
And, regarding the error - yes they mis typed but you also have a duty to READ what you sign before you sign it.
By telling them that there's been an issue you could come to a payment agreement (ie pay double for a few months).
By not telling them and leaving it you COULD, feasibly, end up being summonsed for non-payment and end up with a CCJ.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Hi,
I booked a Hotel room for 1 night in order to break a long journey in July. There are 4 of us 2 Adults and 2 Kids.
Immediately after booking online I realised we'd been given a Double Room and not a Family Room. I therefore canceled the reservation.
Only to be told that I could cancel, but no refund could be given ! This seems very harsh as It Literally was less than 10 minutes after booking.
My question is - Is this legal as the distance selling regulations don't cover accomodation.
If I don't get any joy within a week I'll be happy to name and shame the Hotel.
John
Update 16/5/2012
Just to let you all know, I've received a full refund so all's well that ends well !0 -
Yes its legal to not offer a refund on hotel rooms.0
