    Hi

Today I bought car insurance with RAC then cancelled straight away. They said they could not stop the card payment going through (due to go through on 14th May) now and it would have to go through then would be refunded within 7 days. Is this really true that they cannot stop the payment going through even though I'd cancelled immediately?
Seven days sounds reasonable to me.
Could well be that people working at the weekend do not have authority to process refunds.

They have gone to some trouble because you "cancelled straight away", so why should they rush through a refund?

Hi a newbie but always read the site so looking forward to any advice here goes:

Bought a new kitchen from Wickes it carried some discount etc and I paid the toatal in full with debit card-told we could return anything for refund at later stage etc

Today i was shocked when returning some items the sales man said he was taking all the discount off each item returned as this had not been done so for a unit I paid £118 he took off £42 odd and that is just an example of the refund, I took 4 items back and he took £185 off my original payment leaving me with £145 refund- this cannot be right. His discount was taken off before I paid
originally so i beleive I am owed what I paid in total- what is right please advise my next step,

Big Don usually posts on the Matched Betting forum. However, he wondered if anyone here could help!
Recently, Don travelled to the USA with his British I Phone, provided by T Mobile. To cut a long story short, he stupidly did not switch his Data Roaming off on the phone. His next mistake was to look on the internet on the I Phone for golf courses for approximately half an hour. He thought that, as he had a T Mobile signal that it should be okay. However, the next day Don was on the golf course and his wife, Mrs Don, rang to say that the T Mobile account had been suspended- pending payment for £650 data roaming charges that Big Don had ran up!
Big Don got no warning that he would get these charges. Is it reasonable of T Mobile to charge this? What can Big Don do? £650 seems like a lot of money for using the internet for half an hour, but Don doesn't really care as he makes so much money out of Matched Betting that the money is meaningless. However, the principal that T Mobile, a supposedly bona fide firm, could rip off a member of the public like this does disturb Big Don a little. Can anyone offer any advice about this matter?

Valli usually posts on here BUT mobile phones, and the charges thereof, are not in my remit.

In all honesty I suggest you post this in the mobile phones thread but, on first view, I think you are going to have to take this on the chin. Chances are its in the small print of your contract.

    Sorry!

If, However, there was NOTHING in your contract about data roaming and charges you MIGHT be in with a chance. It might be, however, that you should be thankful your A/c was suspended...some companies would have let you go on, I think!

Go and ask on the phone thread;)

Just starting to persue a section 75 claim over a leather sofa that it 16 months old.

Just reassure me that the expired 12 month warranty is irrelevant . Sale of good act 1979 says fit for perpose and a leather sofa that can't survive 16 months without the leather cracking and the springs becoming prominent on one seat- the rest are fine, is not for for perpose is it?

( and no it's not that someone one sits on the one seat 18hrs a day- we are a busy working family- if anything the chair bought at the same time is much more sat on and is fine)
  • SOGA states as the item is over 6 months old that the responsibility is yours to prove that the fault with the leather sofa is inherent (i.e. not due to wear and tear or accident etc). You would need an independent report stating such before pursuing a s75 or remedy under SOGA against the retailer.

    Have you read the FAQ?

    Tenth Anniversary Combo Breaker
I moved to the UK in Q4 2008 and am only now becoming more aware about my consumer rights in this country.

I’d appreciate some quick advice about the below situation:
In Feb 2009 I purchased some new SSD harddrives from OneStopPCShop online in the amount of £419.46 GBP.
The HDD’s did not work as expected so I returned them within 10 days for which I both have the postoffice receipt for the return, and acknowledgement that they received the return.

After receiving the return they refused to give the full refund saying that their supplier was charging them a restocking fee £150.
I said that wasn’t good enough and insisted on a full refund – this was both over the phone and by email.
Their responsiveness wasn’t good at the best of times, and in June 2009 they stopped responding to me and I never received my money.

This has always bothered me as I have returned the goods in good faith but never received my money back.

Do I have any recourse, am I still entitled to this money in 2012, and what would be the best approach to get this money back?

    Thanks

Hi can anyone tell me whether I have the right to cancel an online learning course within seven days of receiving the course matrials? In their Terms and Conditions they state that "
    1. Cancellation

According to the Distance Selling Regulations 2000, you have a cooling off period of seven working days from receipt of goods. This period allows an unconditional right to cancel. You will be required to make such a request in writing to us at the address given above, and, at your cost return any received materials in a satisfactory and reasonable condition.
I have tried to cancel(in writing) but they will not allow me to do this. They are telling me that I only have the right to cancel within seven days of enrolment, even though this is not stated anywhere on their site.

    I would appreciate any adivie!

    Kindest regards.
