Hi,
I booked a Hotel room for 1 night in order to break a long journey in July. There are 4 of us 2 Adults and 2 Kids.
Immediately after booking online I realised we'd been given a Double Room and not a Family Room. I therefore canceled the reservation.
Only to be told that I could cancel, but no refund could be given ! This seems very harsh as It Literally was less than 10 minutes after booking.
My question is - Is this legal as the distance selling regulations don't cover accomodation.
If I don't get any joy within a week I'll be happy to name and shame the Hotel.
John
Why did you not ask if you could just swop the room?
.Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0 -
I have paid for some furniture via a KGB deals voucher for a furniture company. i paid for the furniture thru KGB deals website, and applied the voucher correctly to the associated furniture company website.
I have received a single email from the furniture company on the day I completed the online transaction, and the item has not been delivered within the stipulated contracted 21 working days, and neither the furniture company nor KGB deals are replying to my phone calls or emails.
Whom do I sue and in what order?
(cheers all)0 -
(I might add that I paid for postagve thru the furniture company - so KGB deals took the bulk of the payment and the furniture company took a relatively small delivery charge whilst acknowledging use of the voucher on the emailed invoice.)0

In answer to Derrick, You can only book online , and a Double or a Family Room are the same price, After booking I expected to be asked what type of room was required, But it seems only Double rooms are left. I contacted the Helpdesk who only informed me that refunds are not available.
I have emailed a complaint, but so far no reply has been received.

My partner and i are getting married next june, my partner found a lady on facebook who sells wedding dress's, she found the dress she liked and paid a £80 deposit the lady selling the dress knew my partner was an hair extensionist and she asked my partner to do her hair and instead of paying her she would take the money off the dress that my partner had ordered the lady decided after a few months that she no longer wanted hair extensions and that she required my partner to pay for the dress in full, my partner said she saw another dress she preffered and would she be willing to transfer the balance on another dress she agreed nut it turns out that the lady has sold that dress to someone else instead i have a receipt to prove she transfered the balance she said she would get another one at some point but ive noticed a few other people complaining that they have been ripped off by her so we asked for a refund and shee agreed to it and would refund the money by a ertain date but that never happened she then gave us another again and again now she is saying she will not refund the money that she has received i told her that i would being speaking to trading standards but she didnt care and have blocked my partner on facebook so she cannot communicate with her where we stand what should we be able to do about it0

To date I bought a Sony Vail laptop from PC world just under 6 months ago from . I noticed a little while ago the paint from the base was getting transferred to the screen surround, I thought great, £550 for a laptop and its wearing already! Admittedly its not much but I wasn't happy as it would only get worse,
I thought I'd have to live with it until someone at work told me about consumer rights so I looked up about it.
I could see that this issue was happening as the screen was flexing when being carried, the protective rubber feet are set too far back to offer protection.
I took it into PC world where 2 staff agreed it looks like a slight design fault. Anyway, their cover plan does not cover cosmetic damage so they are sending it to sony for an assessment.
Ideally I want PC World to exchange for a different model of laptop to the same value as I'm under 6 months.
I'm concerned if Sony just replace parts it will happen again, or worse still sony snub me, where will I Stand with PC World then? I'm under 6 months..
Am I entitled to a replacement as I'm not happy on grounds of durability
Thanks for any replies0 -

As PcWorld seem to agree that the fault is inherent, you have the right to a remedy.
That remedy could be a repair, replacement or refund.
You get to choose the remedy, but you cannot insist that the seller provides a remedy that is either impossible or disproportionately costly.
So effectively, the seller chooses the remedy.
It might be worth pointing out that if a refund is decided upon, then that can be reduced to take account of the use you have had from the thing.0 -
OK thanks.
I'm going to try as I don't believe the product is "reasonably durable" and it is in their hands at the moment anyway. I do like the laptop, its just this issue that would continue
to happen0 -
Hi
Today I bought car insurance with RAC then cancelled straight away. They said they could not stop the card payment going through (due to go through on 14th May) now and it would have to go through then would be refunded within 7 days. Is this really true that they cannot stop the payment going through even though I'd cancelled immediately?0
