  • Hi. I recently went to a herbal medicine shop to see if they had anything for trouble with sleeping (I had been to a doctor and didn't really want to start taking Zopiclone)

Anyway, they offered some pills and said I would need to take them 3 times a day. I paid £10 for them. After money had changed hands, the shopkeeper added some extra details they hadn't told me before - that I would need to take 8 pills, 3 times a day. At this point I felt I didn't really want to be taking 8 pills of anything in one go, especially 3 times a day (regardless of the ingredients, I dont enjoy trying to swallow pills) and in light of this new information I said I had changed my mind and asked for a refund.

They refused the refund saying it was against their policy.

So, I understand as there are no 'faulty goods' in this scenario I cannot get a refund on those grounds, but I wondered if there are any provisions in the law regarding not being told all the relevant details of a purchase until after payment has been made, that mean I should have got a refund?

    Thanks for any advice,

    Matt.
  • I purchased a children's sonic toothbrush back in May 2011 from Amazon. This went faulty in September 2011 and it was replaced. It has now gone faulty again.

I emailed Amazon this morning who sent over a returns slip etc and stated they would issue a full refund and not another replacement. I have now just received a second email from them telling me that I have been mis-informed, there will be no refund as I am only entitled to a one year warranty from original date of purchase being May 2011.

Where do I stand on this?

If Amazon are correct and I am indeed out of the twelve month warranty period, can I make any claim at all as surely one would expect a toothbrush that retails at over £70 to last more than twelve months?

    Any advice appreciated.

    Many thanks in advance,

    Ali.
  • Hi I have posted a large Item to an south Asian country to my parents on January 2012. It had contained £700 worth of goods. They siad at the best 6 weeks to deliver. It has been nearly 7 months no delivery yet. For not receiving those, my parent had to buy the alternatives with extra cost.

I called them many times (every weekend) , every time they laugh and say next week.
Is there any action I can take against them? please help.

    Many Thanks
    Raj
  • My parents bought an item from Homebase which was delivered a day early as they are both unable to walk very well the delivery man (from Argos!!) carried it in for them and it was signed for when it was checked later it was the wrong item, the problem is that a replacement item and collection of wrong item was arranged but when the correct item arrived the (same) delivery person had no paperwork for collection of anything and refused to take it. We have tried going into Argos in person to arrange collection but keep getting told there is no trace of the order. How long do we have to keep the item before we can get rid of it parents are worried about getting into trouble if they do so

If you bought the item from Homebase, why do you think that Argos would have information on your order?

Yes, I know they have the same parent company, and you have told us they share deliveries to some extent, but you really ought to be chasing this with Homebase.

If you are seriously considering keeping the extra item, then I would advise you to write to them (Homebase) staing that they have 14 days (say) to collect it, and after that you will consider the item yours. Send your letter recorded delivery... oh, and make your sentences a little shorter than the first one in your post. :D
  • Sorry about the missed full stop. The item they mistakenly delivered is not available from Homebase (our original order was made on homebase website) and came from the Argos catalogue, I originally contacted them direct and it was them who redirected to Argos. We have tried on more than one occasion to return the item to both companies, it's not that we intend to sell it but that it is a bulky outdoor canopy and is taking up space.
  • Good Morning All

My fiance bought a dress and its all paid for. she went to collect it on saturday and it does'nt fit and its to small.

What rights to refund does she has as she is told it made to measure which if the case then it wrong as measurements dont fit her. They said the seamstress would be able to do something but we still dont think it will fit. The only other option they gave was to buy a new one.

What rights to a refund do we have on this??

    cheers

  • Hi I purchased an Asus tablet via online mail order catalogue in Oct 11. It stopped working in June 12 and the catalogue gave me the asus hotline to arrange collection and repair. This went well and the tablet was returned 3 weeks later in working order. Yesterday I encountered the same problem again and it has stopped working. The catalogue have again referred me to the asus hotline and collection is being arranged.

My question is...... as there is only a couple of months left on the initial warranty, can I request a replacement or refund from the original seller - the catalogue - or do I have to have it repaired for the second time by asus?

    Thanks
