The neighbour took the parcel in on the understanding they were for us.

Actually, it would be quite nice if the stuff wasn't collected but I'd like to follow unsolicited goods properly - sorry forgot to say that.

So is my best option courier, shop or both?

  • Hi, I set up a Direct Debit with my local leisure centre for swimming lessons for my kids. I've noticed that the DD has appeared on my bank but no money has ever been taken (it was set up in Oct 11) When I've looked at the contract I signed at the time, they have typed for the first payment to be taken October 61 - now this is obviously a typing error, but they've signed it and I've signed it - if I tell them now and start paying, can they make me backpay to last October, even though its their error?

    Thanks
  • I'm new to all this, so please be nice and I hope I'm posting in the right place!

I bought an item of clothing in Sainsburys two weeks ago which didn't fit (no changing rooms to try anything on!) so i went to return it yesterday but the receipt wasn't in the bag and I was having a clear out and I know that I have thrown all the receipts I had away (careless I know - I have learnt my lesson) and Sainsburys said that they cannot just give me a credit note - they have to take 25% off the refund. Has anyone else expereinced this? And have you had any luck taking it up with Sainsburys?

    Thank you!!:)
  • Same thing happened to me and a friend, it would appear that they never processed our paperwork...

If there is no fault with the goods, and you do not have a receipt, then Sainsburys only have to abide by their returns policy.

Why are they suggesting knocking 25% off?
Is it because you have no receipt, or is it because the price they are selling the item at now is 25% less than when you made the purchase?

Without a receipt, or other proof of purchase, they have no way of knowing how much you paid for it, and in fairness to all concerned it has to be said, they also have no way of knowing whether you paid for it at all.

Please try to understand their point of view too.

I don't know how to post a new thread on here as it is a while since I logged in. I bought a brand new LG Washing Machine /Dryer in October of 2011 and the tumble dryer part of it has just taken ages to dry anything. I had 2 towels in it and the machine took 4 hours to dry them! anyhow I contacted the supplier who I bought the machine off and they directed me back to LG for a repair.

I got an engineer in last week and he said that he has had to repair a few of these machines for the same fault and he took a load of fluff off the motor and said that it was being strangled by it and that the air coming out of the tumble dryer is not up to standard. He went away and ordered the parts for this Washer/Dryer and I have subsequently been told that these will not be in for 10 days due to coming from Korea. I cannot use my Washer/Dryer now as the clothes simply do not dry. I contacted LG first off and said I am not happy with this as I am disabled and relied on my machine and cannot go outside. They did not care and said that I have the parts coming and there is nothing that they can do for me. I contacted the suppliers who have not bothered to get back to me.

I have asked for my machine to be replaced as this is unacceptable to have a machine that is not fit for purpose, I am sure that I will be fobbed off by them but what are my rights? The machine cost me £650.00 which is not cheap but it seems to me no one cares.
  • Hi Everyone,

I'm after a little help please.

I ordered a toaster and Kettle set from an online retailer, as the toaster is faulty i contacted them within 7 days and asked for a refund.

They have offered me a refund for the Toaster but state I must return the Kettle at my own cost if I want a refund, they are treating them as separate purchases even though they were bought as a set.

Can they make me pay to return an item that was bought as part of a set.

    Thank you.

    Hi :)

To the top left of the board's index page you'll see... newthread.gif

I think it would be a good idea to re-post this query as a new thread.

    HTH :)

I bought a £300 TV from a well known supermarket retailer in Aug 2010. For the last few months, when I switch the tv on, there is sound but no picture. If I fiddled with the scart, it worked eventually but was a real pain in the bum. I phoned the company as I still had the order confirmation email and the snooty woman said it was out of the year warranty. I quoted the SOGA and she put me on hold. She then told me she would send a form which would be 'judged on an individual basis'.

To cut a long story short, I had to keep calling as the form never arrived. Eventually I went nuts and a woman did the form with me over the phone which was only about 4 questions. Result was a brand new replacement TV today. However, am also angry because...

1- If I hadn't quoted the SOGA then I would have just bought another tv! This is very sneaky that the refund/replace response to the SOGA would not be an option for those who don't know about it!

2 - Surely extended warrantys are nonsens then?

3- The guy who took my faulty tv told me that he thinks they are all just binned. It was clearly a minor fault that could have easily been fixed by an expert. What a waste!

Spread the word about the SOGA people! :j
