The 6 months is crucial, under the SoGA, up to 6 months the onus is on the retailer to determine if the fault was there at time of purchase, over 6 months the onus is on you, if a guarantee is for 12 months you can use that but you will have to conform to the conditions in it.
Tesco may provide a replacement if they have any left, or they could just refund the purchase price, (less, if they choose, an amount for the time you have had use of it).
Just go back and ask, Tesco are usually OK.

Thank you! Thought i would tell you the out come. Couldnt find the blinking recipt in the end, i have it somewhere "safe". Luckily i had a bank statement from when i bought it along with a kettle etc. Tesco said as it wasnt with the recipt they could replace it but not refund - that was fine by me. They never asked me how much it was just said the value of replacement i could have was whatever the toaster was scanning at currently. Luckily for me it was scanning at £19 so i picked a £16 toaster as a replacement. :T0 -
I ordered goods from Asda - 28 days delivery - due to be received next week (hopefully) the goods are now reduced by £200 - full amount was taken at time of order. Do you think they will refund the difference as I haven't got the goods yet or will I still need to pay the full amount? Any advice welcome - I even like a bit of cheek0

So, if you were to contact them and ask for a £200 refund, they would be mad not to do that and force you through the motions of cancelling and reordering.0 -
If you made the order online (or otherwise at a distance) then the Distance Selling Regulations generally allow you to cancel the order upto seven working days after the goods are delivered... which of course includes the period before they are delivered.

Spoke to them today - mad it is then:eek::eek::eek:
\r:eek::eek:refusing to refund - 'I entered a contract with them & the contract was at that price' - I replied that the contract stated they would deliver within 28 days & the didn't seem to have a problem breaking that;) - They are refunding the delivery charge:o0 -

I.e. did you buy over the phone, by internet or mail order?
This is important.
Can you tell us what you have purchased?
There are somethings excluded from DSRs.0 -

i bought a hotpoint tumble dryer from argos 17 months ago.
this has now developed corrosion on it's casing.
i know it's now out of guarantee but feel this should have lasted a lot longer than it has.
do i have any consumer rights regarding this, and if so who with.
p.s paid for with argos store card value 199.99.0 -
Hi
I bought a pair of Ugg Australia boots from my-wardrobe.com and they developed a fault after four months of use.
I have contacted the trader and they are refusing to refund as they say it's down to sustained wear. I have told them I don't want a refund, a repair or replacement would do and now I'm being ignored.
Does anyone have any advice on what I could do etc.?
I don't really see how it can be down to sustained wear as I had only had them for four months, what am I supposed to do, just keep them for show?
Any suggestions would be much appreciated, thanks.0 -
I bought a £1960 dining room suite from BHS earlier this month. Ordered in store. Paid on credit card. Delivered to my home last week. Two table legs have very unsightly blemishes, but after sending customer services a photo, they claim it is "normal" and completely refuse to take the furniture back. What can I do next?0
