sorry to be a pita but can i clarify if we are going to use linking to regs threads to post all weeklies on main each week now or are we doing away with the extra threads and extra clicks?
thanks0 -
Have posted all the Food, Tickets and voucher comps from monthly thread, One or two can't be posted for a few days so i have bookmarked those to post later, I worked methodically down the list and done as Glad stated, the ones which are striked i checked and posted, hopefully stating where i left off gives someone an inidctaion of where to pick up from xx
Will leave it at that for tonight, xxx#JusticeForGrenfell0 -
ETA: I notice that a lot of people are saying about the vocal minority recently. If you are incuding me in that statement
Nope, not you or any individual simply the numbers. I could have worded the comment better, probably less than 1% of people using the comps section have expressed a wish for competitions currently on main to be moved to regs, to put it another way over 99% have not said they want things moved or changed.
Clearly the simplest sort and enter method enables the majority of people to enter the maximum number of competitions in the minimum amount of time and allows "newcomers" to pick things up fastest. To that end whatever method to enter that requires the fewest "clicks" and or sub-boards would be best.0 -

I think most people agreed they didn't reall work
it's probably best if we make sure everyone know where the regs board and stickies are
aren't the weekly comps going to be pasted on main then now ?please be a responsible pet owner & spay/neuter your pets, too many strays & not enough homes for them sadly.0 -
Hi
gilla's weekly sticky has 475 thanks, as you say that's just the number who 'thank' the actual number who appreciate the threads is probably much higherso quite a high number of your 800+ comp users who use the regs board Didn't say it was not used but just a fraction of the users are pushing for change (to custom and practice)
ppd's monthlies sticky had 200 thanks
as for this very very small minority wishing to devalue the main board, the regs users have lost every single monthly comp as well as any daily or weekly comp that runs for a set time only, the only comps moving from mains to the regs board are weekly promotions that are ongoing. They have lost not anything, they are where most people will see them on the main thread. (based on your 475/800+ almost twice as many will access them on main)
The guideline was written so that all comps were posted under the same 'rule' it was a compromise, the 2 extremes were 'everything on the main board' and 'only one off comps on main and anything with a regular entry on regs' it definitely leans towards the main board users but both sides are willing to compromise at least for a trial period so everyone can get back to comping :T
The TVNews comps are drawn the same day every week as can be seen by the threads you start each week so at the moment, under the guidelines, it needs posting as an ongoing thread in regs, updated with change of prize etc and gilla can just put one link to it in the sticky instead of having to change it every weekif the terms change let me know and it can be looked at again, the twitter one I've left.
The guideline and other posts all contain links to the stickies and regs board to help people find any comps that have moved and so far I have pm'd nearly 200 compers to let them know of the changes
Cannot see how any of this makes it easier for the majority of people who will now have to enter fewer competitions or spend longer to enter the same number they do at the moment as a simple end date search on main will miss so many competitions.
As I already said I will post it wherever it is supposed to go but how a competition with a start date, an exact end date, a unique question and unique prize gets classed as a reg without an end date just seems bizzare to me.0 -

No, that was my point, now everyone will have to waste time looking elsewhere instead of one endate sort for comps even though they have exact end-dates with unique questions and prizes.0 -

It's not just you I've seen a good few people say it lately and eventually it wears thin, but thank you for replying
If people read back, I, and plenty of others, although we have our opinions/preferences haven't actually asked for all comps to be moved to regs, only for more for clarity on what should be posted there.
The regulars board must exist for a reason and also Andreas first poll showed that more than 50% of voters wanted to keep it in some form or another. So with both those things in mind we needed to be told/decide what should and shouldn't go there. We at least now have this middle ground. Which is probably good as a trial because we get to see both sides of the arguement in action...pro stickies side for weeklies and pro main board onlies side for monthlies
In answer to your new compers comment IF it's not already there (and sorry I've not checked), perhaps a link to the daily and weekly stickies should be added to the brilliant beginners comping guide when it's next updated?0 -

as new threads each week linking to the ongoing thread in regs? no. as new threads each week duping a thread in regs? no.
i hope not anyway
thnak you toniq for posting the monthlies0 -

i thought it was all agreed if the comp had a end date regardless wether it's a weekly/monthly it was to be posted on main board ? with the link to the weekly thread if it's weekly ?
you post the tvnews comp every week on main & peeps expect to find it there, if it's posted/moved to regs it's going to be lost by loads of peeps who use main boardplease be a responsible pet owner & spay/neuter your pets, too many strays & not enough homes for them sadly.0
