just to say that any ongoing weeklies I move to the regs board I'll leave a redirect for a week

Thanks Glad. You must be giving up your whole weekend to get this sorted
I think E: ONEOFF would do. There's nothing to stop people adding other bits like sign up or newsletter or whatever after it if they personally think it's needed but at least it says what it needs to and keeps it simple and short and consistent so it's got a thumbs up from me at least
other options could be ONEENTRY or ONCEONLY
I just think one word would go with the DAILY and WEEKLY used on the other threads and make searching easierI am a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Wales, Small Biz MoneySaving, In My Home (includes DIY) MoneySaving, and Old style MoneySaving boards. I do not really have time to get drawn into this thread but I have your pm so will comment once.
I had read (sort of) some of the long thread about the "R" board and the vocal but very very small minority (out of well over 800+ comp users, just taking those who "thank" into account the actual number is probably much higher) who use the "R" board and despite the apparent wish to devalue the main board for the majority of users did not see how this (TVNews) comp would move to it. Each competition has a specific end date, question and prize. The competition usually runs for 6 days, sometimes less but never lasts a full week (bumper ones may last 10 to 20 days but not a week). They also have often have a twitter comp which runs less often but again with a clear comp (retweet) deadline.
In both cases there is a clear promotion end date stated which is when that unique competition ends. Usually within a couple of days there will be another competion again with a clear and individual end date.
So when I looked at the guidelines I did not need to go further than
There is a clear end date = Main.0 -
Should add, doesn't make any difference to me where it is posted and when some people wanted it linked to weeklys I did so each week as that helped more people to enter which is surely what it is all about, removing it from "Main" does not help anymore people enter the competition but has exactly the reverse effect.0

Glad has come up with something that is a compromise. I don't think anyone thinks it's perfect, it's just middle ground so we can finally move on. I definitely have to adapt how I comp/post. Probably everyone will have to in some respect. Maybe we all need to just give it a chance now - and remember it's already been said that the weeklies will be reviewed once we see how the monthlies work so this isn't necessarily a final version of the rules
ETA: I notice that a lot of people are saying about the vocal minority recently. If you are incuding me in that statement then I would like to point out, yet again, that if I would NEVER have joined in this conversation if people had followed the generally accepted rules on MSE (e.g. don't dupe and be polite). I was just fed up with comps on regs being duped onto main and for being moaned at repeatedly for my definition of regular. All I have been asking for is a definition of regular so I can work from it when I post, and the only rule I have been fairly adamant about wanting in the last few months is that dupes aren't allowed!0 -
Thanks for all the hard work you've put into this Glad:)
Looks like i might have to venture on the regs board now then as with the newsletter comps i have often unsubscribed from them anyway otherwise my email would be huge:)Darren0 -

gilla's weekly sticky has 475 thanks, as you say that's just the number who 'thank' the actual number who appreciate the threads is probably much higherso quite a high number of your 800+ comp users who use the regs board
ppd's monthlies sticky had 200 thanks
as for this very very small minority wishing to devalue the main board, the regs users have lost every single monthly comp as well as any daily or weekly comp that runs for a set time only, the only comps moving from mains to the regs board are weekly promotions that are ongoing.
The guideline was written so that all comps were posted under the same 'rule' it was a compromise, the 2 extremes were 'everything on the main board' and 'only one off comps on main and anything with a regular entry on regs' it definitely leans towards the main board users but both sides are willing to compromise at least for a trial period so everyone can get back to comping :T
The TVNews comps are drawn the same day every week as can be seen by the threads you start each week so at the moment, under the guidelines, it needs posting as an ongoing thread in regs, updated with change of prize etc and gilla can just put one link to it in the sticky instead of having to change it every weekif the terms change let me know and it can be looked at again, the twitter one I've left.
The guideline and other posts all contain links to the stickies and regs board to help people find any comps that have moved and so far I have pm'd nearly 200 compers to let them know of the changesI am a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Wales, Small Biz MoneySaving, In My Home (includes DIY) MoneySaving, and Old style MoneySaving boards. ONCEONLY or ONETIMEONLY, seems to say what they are to me, kinda like the guessedenddate tag I reckon,My light may be on, but that doesn't always mean I am looking at the PC - I am far more likely to be cuddling or feeding Tianna atm, so please don't think I am ignoring you if I don't reply quickly
Our Precious Baby Tianna has now joined our Family, she is much loved and very welcome, xxx0 -
ONCEONLY it is
with register/sign up/newsletter in title too
I wanted to change the titles for the ones left in regs as I go through the board, there are still a lot of comps there need moving to GO that weren't in the sticky
I'll add it to the info about tags tooI am a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Wales, Small Biz MoneySaving, In My Home (includes DIY) MoneySaving, and Old style MoneySaving boards.
