So Daitem do have a UK presence?I am a cow so cannot speak Bullshine but I do recognise its smell when I come upon it.0

apart from this one:-

(thanks are due to the MSE member fleeced27 for supplying this link)
But thanks jimbo13, I do understand what you were trying to say. It's just that SAS were clearly a complete bunch of crooks and, on this site, there is little respect for them or those that try to defend such activities.
As an aside, I am still intrigued by those independent assessors reports, who examined the SAS installations, and declared them to be sub-£500 alarm systems. Clearly these are all wireless systems so are a cheap-as-chips for installation by an unskilled fitter, although being less secure than fully wired that command an installation premium. Clearly SAS were happy with wireless as they were a breeze to install and could be installed within the 24 hours to cause issues with the cooling-off period.
A couple of recent members here declared the sub-£500 findings to be false and that the alarms were of much greater value than that, yet I find that you can pick up DAITEM alarm systems for peanuts on eBay.
Examples:-
DAITEM Totally Wireless Alarm System Panel DP1320GB £89
Daitem 171-21F PIR Alarm Motion Detector RRP £90 (sold for £60)
Daitem 337-21W Alarm Control Panel PSTN & Siren (sold for £21)
Can anyone explain to me their pricing? There seem to be no prices on the Daitem web sites that I can see - just lots of kit and I am just a simple little girl and know nothing about all these big manly alarm systems....I am a cow so cannot speak Bullshine but I do recognise its smell when I come upon it.0 -
They are not less secure at all. That is why they are double batteried. Theirs complied with all European standards hence the company being able to get the police URNs.
Daitem is about the only wireless alarm that achieves this. They are the RR of wireless. I know that is not fascinating but it is true. It would have cost a lot of time and money to go through patents etc to get there.
I and anyone else could buy a simple gadget from ebay that would negate the gsm part of the wireless alarm for about £40. This just leaves the bell part of the alarm which are generally ignored by most people these days
I would go for a wired alarm everytime, for the type of money being charged for these alarms and the monitoring charge being made you could get a proper RED Care GSM alarm installed.
If you were a business the police will only respond to Red Care GSM type alarm0 -
I'd just like to add my 50p, for what it's worth seeing as I used to work for SAS, well I have been accused of it, I won't go into the snide comments made towards me and my alarm because I got it from SAS, I bartered for it and got a fair cash price. (and no I won't be discussing it) I researched Daitem as I needed a wireless alarm and they ticked all the boxes. For those who are not technology minded I have PIR's that know the difference between my dog, my cat and humans. Therefore I can have my Alarm on with my pets running about the house without an activation, I won't even go into the smoke detector that is linked to the alarm. Just think Spammy you can have an external PIR protecting your garden with rabbits being chased by foxes with no activation. Now lets get to the crunch here, has anyone got a quote from ADT for an alarm system with monitoring, with response if no keyholder can be contacted, with free call outs from an engineer and free batteries for the life of the contract perhaps? As far as I know SAS had decided to cancel their G4S contract and had their own team to go check houses after activation when no keyholder could be contacted.
I would just like to say to finish, why are we even talking about this, it's bad enough that 1000's of people have lost their monitoring without certain people now trying to slate a premium alarm system in what appears to be a game of one upmanship. Ebay???? Jesus Spammy you really are scraping the barrel now, yeh, I'll buy an Alarm from ebay, let the seller post it to my address, wait a month then come home to an empty house. I really am away to bang my head off a wall, but not too hard in case I set off my anti tamper device on my rubbish alarm. This thread is becoming a joke and I would hate to think that 500+ staff lost their jobs because of inaccuracies posted on this website and gutter press.
Now before the trading standards get mentioned here, yes I know the sales pitch from SAS was not very accurate with crime figures and that salesmen did lie to customers but that happens all the time in every business but now 1000's have no monitoring because the words Scam, Con, Rip Off were used and I still don't feel I was ripped off or Scammed or Conned!!!Gave up trying to have funny Sigs..0 -

C_Crawford wrote: »You have lost me here? GSM means that it uses the mobile network to dial out to the monitoring company does it not? The Daitem alarms use wireless to comunicate between sensors, piggy backing off each other and they switch channels if any kind of blocking device or external wireless tampering takes place. Also they use the phone line to call out to the monitoring station though you can also have a GSM dialer as back up..

I understand totally what I'm talking about thank you.
The GSM signal is very easy to block, I assume SAS or whoever installed it have not installed a seperate land line and is so this is also incredibly easy to block (Cost about 40p or possibly free) if you know the trick .
There is a major difference between the type of dialers the Daitem alarm uses and a Redcare GSM alarm hence why for business customers the police will respond to it0 -

If they are that serious no alarm will stop them I am afraid, for the average housebreaker my Daitem alarm will do it's job just fine :-)
Physically cutting off the land phone line is not needed, I could disable your Daitem landline from where I'm sat at the moment if I had the right information.
I won't mention how on a forum how it's done, but it's well known method.
If they're that serious there are alarms that would stop them, a Redcare Type of alarm would still alert the police within moments of the phone line being disabled and bring a break in response from the police. Note a red car type alarm uses a seperate phone line which would negate my method of disabling the phone line but would still be activated if the phone line was cut and / or the GSM signal was stopped0 -

Anyways, having this conversation is a bit like shutting the gate once the horse has bolted but thanks for the input.Gave up trying to have funny Sigs..0 -
My A1 alarm system I had installed over 15 Years ago at a cost of £45, is still kicking to this day, as yet nobody has broke into my property and should they risk it, with the reliability of my alarm system (which has never sounded a false alarm to date) my neighbours will happily check the house or phone the police in my absence at no extra cost.
This is pretty common around here, virtually every estate has a neighbourhood watch programme. Such a scheme is far more reliable than hoping the Police will turn up in good time should they get an automated message from some extortionate alarm system.yes I know the sales pitch from SAS was not very accurate with crime figures and that salesmen did lie to customers but that happens all the time in every business:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A
