Speeding ticket in Vito van
Gm all,
Really peed off this morning, had a speeding ticket this morning saying I was doing 60 mph when my van should have been classed at 50 mph!?! Is this right? My van is a short wheel base vito.
Anoying thing is that it is a 60 zone and I remember driving past the van thinking i'm fine at 60.
Is this right?
Thanks
P

Spot on I'm afraid.
Just booked my speed awareness course for doing 69 in a 70,except that vans are goods vehicles,so its 60.
I think the only vans that have same limits as cars are the small car derived ones.0 -
See Highway Code here http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/TravelAndTransport/Highwaycode/DG_070304
As a goods vehicle you can only do 50mph in a 60mph limit single carriageway road and 60mph on a dual carriageway.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

Car derived vans are still goods vehicles, so as far as I'm aware, still 50.0 -

Depends on the size of the car derived van0 -

Yes it is right. Vans have different speed limits to cars:
50MPH on a NSL single carriageway
60MPH on a dual carriageway.0 -
Yep national speed limit is 50/60 in van not 60/70, utter tosh isn't it.Nothing to see here, move along.0

If it's over 3.5 tons GVW then I believe it is 40 on a Single carriageway. I got caught once driving a twin wheel transit!PLEASE NOTEMy advice should be used as guidance only. You should always obtain face to face professional advice before taking any action.0

But put some windows and seats in the back its an MPV and the same aa a car, go figure!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!0

Some vans have much different rear suspension and a higher centre of gravity than modern cars and are expected to be carrying a heavy load hence the reduction as they do not handle like a car.It does seem a bit daft though as they have come a long way from what they used to be.0
