Am disgusted with the service I have received at KFC. I visit my local Newcastle branch on Grainger Street often to pick up some food from there and recently the service has been disgusting. THREE TIMES, I have bought a meal from them, and it has been missing pieces of chicken. I have tried to complain to the manager on all three occasions but was fobbed off with "he's not available". I told the people behind the counter that I didn't get what I paid for the last time I was there, and you should have seen these people, they're literally braindead, I knew I'd get nowhere. "I'd like to complain, I ordered a meal yesterday and it was missing chicken?" "Oh right, sorry about that. Next?"

I looked online for KFC's contact information with a view to complaining to whoever rules the roost and found that their contact details are well-hidden. I was only able to find out how to get a hold of them after Googling for a good 15 minutes. I have added details in the "PS:" section on how to get a hold of them if you're interested.

So I contacted them and spoke to a woman and explained how I'd been scammed three times in a row and wasn't happy. She told me she'd get back to me.

Just received an apology letter in the post from them and it's an outrage. It's all well and good giving me an apology template saying "please accept our apologies for any disappointment this may have caused", but what about the fact that I've spent £5.39 a pop in their store for a 6-piece meal and on three occasions found there was only 5 bits of chicken and a tiny amount of chips?

You'll never believe what they've given me as compo. A voucher for ONE SNACKBOX. These things are £1.99! I know whoever decided to give me that was some smug assistant thinking he's the next Ricky Gervais.

So, this is a warning of horrendous service at the Newcastle branch of KFC on Grainger Street. They give you less chicken than you pay for. You know for a fact that if you try to complain they will do nothing about it. The manager is ALWAYS "not available." I told a friend of mine about this and he told me that the same thing happened to him. He now tells the person serving to open the box when he's finished compiling the meal so he can check all the chicken is in there.

Does anyone know what I should do now to get a resolution I'm happier with? Please no wind-up comments saying "get a life mate" or whatever, we British people have taken things like this on the chin for far too long. I've basically been scammed out of money on three separate occasions and KFC have taken the mick out of me. Should I call back or something? I feel I deserve a proper voucher for a bargain bucket or something, not some rubbish snackbox. I don't plan to go back to the branch.

PS: If you're interested in how to contact KFC, you need to call this number: 08457532532. You normally have to contact YUM Food Brands and when you say you're calling about KFC they give you that number so I've saved you some time.

  • I would make sure to check the order next time before leaving the counter, to make sure its all there. I always do that at McDs, BK, KFC etc
  • I've had similar problems with a KFC on Lincoln High Street. We used to find they we go over kill on chips and sacrifice chicken. Service was always really slow too. We just stopped going there.

Are you certain you've contacted head office? In my experience, the head offices of some companies will be on it like a shot if they get wind of shoddy service.
  • My cat Monty just loves next doors bargain buckets of grease! Saves me a fortunbe in cat food.

As for KFC, I have sometimes seen the queue in the place in Cleethorpes Market place, waiting to get some real food at Mr Steel's at their door as well!

After looking again at the apology letter it turns out I didn't get through to head office, it says "thank you for contacting the customer careline" - I've accidentally complained to the peons instead of to the top brass. The only contact details for KFC I could find online were the Yum Food Brands number, so does anyone know how to contact KFC head office?

PS: Check this out, I googled "KFC Grainger Street" and it was one of the first results: http://www.qype.co.uk/place/422840-KFC-Kentucky-Fried-Chicken--Newcastle-upon-tyne

    1/5 stars. :D

Sign up for one of the mystery shopping threads that are on the mystery shopping board on here, KFC are always offering mystery shopping visits (I regularly mystery shop the KFC's of the NW). Then you can give this KFC an awful score. Thats the only thing they really care about.

Why not pay for your meal only after receiving it giving you the option to check it and paying for what you ordered?

I know they do tend to get results but i do find this emails to CEO's of companies ridiculous. The guy is the head of a major corporation that employs thousands of people and he probably had more things to do that worry about than an order in Newcastle that is missing one piece of chicken! I very much doubt that emails to the CEO ever actually get directly to him as they'll be intercepted by a secretary and forwarded to the relevant person, you may get an email back supposingly from the CEO but in reality you won't. They've already offered you a £1.99 snackbox which isn't that bad, Mcdonalds tend to work on a £5 gift voucher for complaints so best case scenario they'll send you say a fiver (maybe even a tenner if you get lucky). Is it really worth it? If you're prepared to put so much time and effort into this complaint then why didn't you spend 10 seconds just check the order when you picked it up? Especially when this has happened to you 3 times!

Sorry but I have no sympathy for any of you's, if the service is bad 1st time, then it's ok to forgive and go back a second time , but if it's bad the second time then you certainly don't go back there again for a third time.
Once they start to lose customers then most of these franchised places will realise their mistakes when they start to cut costs and they start to go under and the head offices don't really care about the smaller places as the managers and staff are not REAL KFC staff, they basically rent the name and buy the goods from KFC then trade under the name.
Customer service is usually lacking these days, so talk with your feet and go elsewhere.
