    Hi everyone

I'm with O2 on their premium package (the middle legacy package) and their home phone service and I'm not going to change ISPs and I'm not going to ring them up and try to get a better deal (though my mind could be changed on that) and here's why...

For three months or so I had been losing connection to the net at random times, any computer plugged in with an ethernet cable lost connection but any wireless connections didn't - so it obviously wasn't a problem with the line.............

..................He said "Huh, most people don't do that much research...give me a minute let me check with second line (the more techy people).

He came back two minutes later and said "I've spoken with them, we will force an upgrade to you, it should be done in 24 hours (this was at 9PM).

By 10AM the next day it was upgraded and sorted. :D

One phone call, one person, no stupid questions (have you switched it off and on again ) just problem -> solution.

That sort of service has a price and it's worth it to me for an extra couple of pound per month, from what I've heard BT, Talktalk and Sky all have shocking customer service.

Why won't I ring up and try and get a discount? I don't want them to try and use that to put me onto the new limited accounts, I'll keep with my unlimited accounts and pay a bit more but it's worth it to me because the service and speed are very good where I am.

Thought I'd better say I don't work for O2 but decided to post to put a bit of balance into the thread.

Now then...anyone managed to definitely stay on the legacy package and get a discount? :rotfl:

Have to agree, as I to have received super support from their Customer Service when I had a problem last year. Spent a lot of time on the phone to very helpful people and eventually got a solution. Could have cost me a lot if without the free '0800' number  So, pretty sure I'll stay with them...it's not always just about cost, and I do have the option to move over to using them for mobile phone, which will save me a few '£££s' each month :).

I see o2 are a member of The Internet Services Providers' Association (ISPA UK) I wonder if it would be worth giving them a call, maybe they can give you some initial advice before lodging a complaint with them.
As you are free to go elsewhere why not do that anyway?
You're a star, thanks! I have found them (and the handsome martin - follow his new martinlewismse account!) on twitter. O2 responded a few days ago to my tweets, but nothing since and still internet/phoneless :(

Yep, 6 months free, six months at £13p/m all on the old package with an email confirming it.

Just phoned O2 for my MAC number. They offered me Line rental, inclusive calls inc 0870,0845 and some other countries along with broadband @ £13.50 for a 12 month contract.

    Good?

I thought so and said yes.

As long as you are happy with your new BB package (complete with traffic shaping etc!)
  • I was also offered this with 'The Works' top level broadband but I know that in 12 months time I wouldn't be able to afford that package without the discount and would have to downgrade probably to the 'basics' package which is very restricted so I've stayed on the old 'Standard' broadband package.

Yes, quite a few sites unavailable, slow DNS lookup, cannot access newsgroups, but email seems fine. I think they have a server down somewhere.

Yep! Also, some sites won't load at all, but I can get to them through a proxy. Most importantly, Xbox Live won't load, and nor will the Xbox website, I was woken up by a loud tantrum this morning when it wouldn't connect! :D

*edit* Where's the post we were replying to? :D
