The article makes no sense at the end-

"O2 is not alone in increasing prices.

    ...

BT, O2, Orange, Sky and Talk Talk say they have no current plans to raise broadband prices."

That bit is actually true because Virginmedia hve announced a small increase for some packages in recent days. "Not alone" can be true if only one other company is doing the same but it is stretching things a bit.
  • Rung up about the increase in prices and the advisor told me there is no point in switching as the new packages are not as good as my current standard package and can't even touch it, he did give me a free month of broadband as a gesture of good will :D

Still have my DISCONTINUED £5 ADSL Orange Broadband Unlimited with 100 countries landlines ;)

I could have moved to o2 BB but didnt - customer care @ o2 on my mobile a/c was shocking ! mis-sold, meant to be cancelled after handset returned and then refused to move to a tariff that was only meant to be ringfenced to new customers during my 24 month contract when i a year later could not prove i returned it (was abroad)....all them milions spent on advertising last year & they royal enough to screw thier customers over - im disgusted for you all, oh look ! is that another ship to jump across to ?
SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe ;)

I was paying £10.21 now to be paying £13. Going to look into possibly changing away from O2.

So O2 spend the first few years of their broadband presence by virtually giving it away (my first year cost £18 in total after cashback and free months) and offering a genuinely unlimited service which on LLU ran more or less at line speed at any time.

Next they decide to enforce limits and employ aggressive shaping.

Then they decide to jack up the prices.

Many of those expensively bought customers will now be moving on - especially if they try to force them away from the old unlimited contracts.

You really couldn't make it up.

Yep - £0.75p on the cheapest package and two which are no longer sold. All the rest - prices held. In fact there was a £3 reduction in the price of the 50Mbps product (XXL) in January.

  • I am on the £7.50 tariff going up to £9.50, and have a few months of my contract to run. I have just rung to say that I was moving providers and they have given me 6 months free, so effectively £4.75 per month. Sounds good to me!
  • I signed up in January 2009 on the "up to 8meg" unlimited download plan for £7.50 a month after my £5 a month mobile phone customer discount.

Mine has gone up to £7.66 a month.

It went up to £7.66 in Jan due to the VAT. This will be going up to £9.50 from 31st March.
  • £15.32 currently, rising to £18.

On top of the BT prices, it looks like we're going to go all Sky soon - we don't even have Sky TV and have waiting for a good reason. Such a shame as O2 Broadband has been fantastic since we started with them in March 2008.

Three years of goodwill down the drain - well played and Bravo Telefonica(!)
