Unless your an o2 broadband customer then no...:exclamatiTo the internet.. I need to complain about something!0 -
I currently pay £17.50 pcm for "unlimited broadband" and this will be rising to £20.50pcm, however this doesn't state if my "unlimited" broadband will be capped to the new 20GB limit (that it states on the their tariff page) or not....
Currently working out if I could be cheaper switching to BT, or switching everything (including phone) to o2...:exclamatiTo the internet.. I need to complain about something!0 -
Currently on the old mid priced broadband (forget it's name) and land-line calls.
Phoned them armed with the knowledge of how much cheaper it would be for me to move to Sky.
They offered 6 months free broadband as long as I started a new contract with land-line & The Works package.0 -
Hi everyone
I'm with O2 on their premium package (the middle legacy package) and their home phone service and I'm not going to change ISPs and I'm not going to ring them up and try to get a better deal (though my mind could be changed on that) and here's why...
For three months or so I had been losing connection to the net at random times, any computer plugged in with an ethernet cable lost connection but any wireless connections didn't - so it obviously wasn't a problem with the line.
I rang O2 and they sent me a new box...no joy it kept doing it.
I checked on their forums and found it was the software in the O2 box crashing and causing the problems and a new version had been released but for whatever reason mine hadn't upgraded (though apparently my area should have).
I rang O2 tech support and said to them:
Hi my broadband keeps crashing, I've:
Changed the box
Changed the wires and microfilter
It happens on multiple computers
Your forums say it's a firmware problem, can I have the upgrade please.
He said "Huh, most people don't do that much research...give me a minute let me check with second line (the more techy people).
He came back two minutes later and said "I've spoken with them, we will force an upgrade to you, it should be done in 24 hours (this was at 9PM).
By 10AM the next day it was upgraded and sorted.
One phone call, one person, no stupid questions (have you switched it off and on again ) just problem -> solution.
That sort of service has a price and it's worth it to me for an extra couple of pound per month, from what I've heard BT, Talktalk and Sky all have shocking customer service.
Why won't I ring up and try and get a discount? I don't want them to try and use that to put me onto the new limited accounts, I'll keep with my unlimited accounts and pay a bit more but it's worth it to me because the service and speed are very good where I am.
Thought I'd better say I don't work for O2 but decided to post to put a bit of balance into the thread.
Now then...anyone managed to definitely stay on the legacy package and get a discount? :rotfl:0 -
I was informed that my home broadband cost was about to rise (still reasonably cheap as I have 02 mobile contract discount) and rang the retentions dept to ask if there were alternative deals. I was promptly offered am amazing deal if I agreed to switch to 02 as landline provider. You need to ask about the "All Rounder" broadband deal with landline.
It was all incredibly simple to organise. They even contact BT for you.
Things to consider :
They still piggyback the old BT line so your speed won't improve when BT bring their new superfast cable to your street.
There is a download limit of 100GB per month after which they reserve right to slow your speed but that seems an incredibly generous allowance.0 -

A number of us have been given 6 months free in exchange for a new 12 month contract on original legacy package only (ie no phone line), (and had it confirmed in writing). See posts in this thread:

I've just been offered a 12-month contract tie in, but at £7 per month on the same package. Just realised I'm actually £27 worse off than those who got 6 months free. Not long got off the phone, is it worth calling back or think just stay put?0

Don't let them change your BB unless you are happy with the traffic management that goes with it.
Thanks for making sure was aware but I had looked into this traffic management fiasco, the O2 forum was a good source of information. Doesn't turn out to be such a big deal really as (on The Works package) it only effects p2p (limit 250 kb/s peak period). If does not effect ftp, general website downloads, iplayer (YouTube etc), usenet (newgroups) or anything else ... just p2p.
I note new "download up to 250Gb per month" rather than previous vague 'fair use' limit though should be more than enough for a majority of users.
There is also the bonus of a faster upload speed over my old package.
So fairly happy to accept 6 months free broadband offered to me to persuade me to stay with o2 then revue in a years time.0 -
Does anyone know if the option to quit due to a price increase extends to the fact that I have both broadband AND phone with O2? I wanted to quit due to rubbish service from O2 BB but being in contract with the landline till July has forced me to stay as with out BB I am apparently breaking my LL contract!!
I can't get a sensible answer from O2... All together now, "Always look on the bright side of life..." :whistle:0
