My dad had an account with Halifax and was closed down, he had many charges with them and was wondering if he could claim them back.

He doesnt have his bank card or a cheque book for the account number.

Could anyone please advise me if he could claim and how he would go about finding his account number.

  • I'm just about to start on reclaiming mine and my husbands credit card charges - do you have to provide a cheque for £10 like you do a bank?

    Thanks

    Hi,

I am just about to start my claim with Natwest. Going through my online statements of 6 months I have had £997 of charges, I have all my previous staements at home which I'm going through tonight.

The question I have is that I used to have an Abbey account which I closed in 2004, can I also claim back these charges? I know my account number, can I write to them asking for the details even though the bank account is closed?

    Many thanks.

    Nick
  • Yes you can!

    Many thanks,

I will send the initial letter with the £10 cheque today.
  • Charges like overlimit /late fees and this have got me into £7000 credit debt. I must have paid £1000s in charges whilst being a student. Some balances are over still over the limit becuase of charges every month mounting up and up - they charge me every month and I still only pay the minimum on some cards.

Can I really claim back on all these charges even where the agreement states that a late fee is allowed?? I would love to know how successful people have been with people like Morgan and Stanly (who are terrible people) as well as Goldfish, Capital One and Egg.
