Yes, as long as the charges are within the list, you can reclaim them.

The most common fee for Credit Cards is 'Late Payment' which would probably be what you incurred when paying late (or not at all!)

I don't think it matters how you were paying your cards, the reason that you can get charges back is that they are unlawfully high. The credit card companies, banks catalogue companies are not allowed by law to make a profit on the charges they make, i.e. if they charge you £30 for a letter to say you are overdrawn, they have to prove that is what the letter cost them - and so far, no banks have actually come clean and stated their true costs.
Once you understand the principal why you can reclaim charges, it will be much easier to working through what you need to do.
  • Hello Everyone,
First time poster and i'd like to ask if you can still claim bank charges after your account has been closed. I've been out of the country for the past year and i've come back and lloyds have told me the account has been closed and the money i owed on a overdraft has been sold on to a debt collection agecny. I've worked out i've paid about 6k in charges over the course of six years so its something i'd like to do

    thanks
    Chris
  • You can claim on a closed account, however as your account has been passed to someone else its likely any money reclaimed would be put towards paying that off.
  • I did this with Halifax took 3 weeks to receive the statements and they credited the £10 to my account.

I am pretty good with my CC payments, I rarely miss a payment but obviously there are plenty of cash withdrawal fees on there and interest charges.

    I assume I can't reclaim these????
