  • They certainly should be able to, but you know what banks are like! Don't be surprised if they try to stall for time by claiming it'll take ages to find your details!

For credit cards that have the same lender, eg. MBNA and Virgin, do I just send the one letter with my date of birth, address etc. Would they do all the accounts that I've ever had with with them?
Also how do I find out which lenders are linked with others.
I was just going to look up my credit report and send a letter to every credit card company I have had an account with, but obviously I don't want to double up.

    Thanks
  • Sometimes the website for the card states which bank provides the credit facilties, it's in the fine print if you click "apply for a card". If you want to ask one lender for all your details I would state clearly which cards you held with them ie Virgin credit card, Oasis store card etc to avoid confusion.

  • Hello, are we allowed to write to the credit card and catalogues to get THEM to list all the charges over the last 6 years? I received them back for LLoyds TSB and am in the process of writing to claim them back...but I dont have the statements for my credit card or catalogue...is it the same process as the first letter to the banks?
  • Basically yes :)
  • Things are progressing well after my success with Halifax and we're already at the court stage with Nationwide and the LBA's with Abbey and Lloyds.

I've got a sticky moment though. Barclays Bank certainly tucked me up for a few charges way back (probably two years worth between 2001-2003) and over a year ago were awarded a CCJ against me which is still outstanding.

I'm going after them though and want to do my statements letter. Only problem is I cannot for the life of me find any record of the Account number I had.

Is there an easy way of doing this and getting it. They've been singularly unhelpful on the phone.

Worth pursuing in person. If the charges were the average of the other banks I'd be in line for about £1000 so I definately want to pursue it.

I've never felt so empowered in my life as I have recliaming all that money

    Thanks in advance
  • If you send off the SAR and include all your details including date of birth etc, they should be able to find it. There's a thread on the board about this already, a helpful mod will probably move your post to help you :D

  • Hi

I have the same issue with A & L. I have phoned them today and they said they will post a pack out to me within 40 days then I return it and then they will send me the statements within a further 40 days. I posted on another part of ths forum and someone advised me to send the statement request letter anyway.

I hope this is correct but if not I too would appreciate the advice.

    Thanks
