I don't bin my unwanted catalogues, the first time I get one I leave it out sealed and with a note saying please respect my 'no cold calling sign' . The second time i get one I leave it out, remove the plastic bag and hope it rains- I rarely get a third.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I'm usually at work when the Betterware catalogues come through our letterbox so my husband deals with them by putting them in the recycle bin.
He also bins the little notes they put through the letterbox telling us they want their catalogue back :rotfl:
The notice on our door says quite clearly:
NO COLD CALLERS
Please do not knock
We do not buy anything off the door step
NO
Hawkers
Sales People
Canvassers
Utilities companies
Charities
Religious groups
Thank You
It's polite and to the point.0 -
I am a Betterware Rep and love the job I do. Whether its wet, dry, hot or cold I am out there delivering and collecting catalogues.
In particular I serve one cul-de-sac that has many properties with signs in there windows stating no buying or selling from the doorstep. I only do those houses that do not have those signs and they all order. One afternoon on that road a gentleman came out and asked if I had anything for him (he did not know what it was at the time). I explained why I was not dropping catalogues of to him. He replied by stating that Betterware and the likes were exempt and were quite welcome by the majority of the residents.
As for not collecting catalogues: Yes I agree the catalogues should be collected, after all other potential customers will want them. I always go around again picking up the ones that have not been left. I only loose about a dozen catalogues every 6 weeks. If a householder does not want a catalogue they don't get a catalogue, seemples.
As for being rude, it does not matter if they've had a hard day at work, all we're doing is earning a bit of money to help out our families. We would never entertain coming to your work place and being rude to you or swearing at you (this also goes for shopworkers who get a lot of that too, I know I worked in a shop before). So if we won't go to your workplace and disrespect you we don't expect it to be done to us.
Ok some of the products may be over-priced slightly. Where else can you return a faulty item or just because you don't like it, within a year and get your money back - without a receipt or a quarrel?
Basically all you people with negative and selfish attitudes need to look in the mirror and ask yourself - how would I like to be treated if this was me? Or are you all too self centered to do that?0 -
i may or may not ever order from them and i do understand the betterware guys are trying to make a living ....BUT
when it gets shoved in my letterbox without asking ,and i toss it with the junk mail by accident , i don't expect the rep to stand there and tell me off for throwing it away . even had the nerve to tut at me . told her not to bother in future ..i didn't ask for it in the first place . so you cannot be upset with whatever happens to it .
haven't seen them since i put the big " NO COLD CALLERS" sign on our door0 -

How did you know that he was a duly appointed representative of all the other residents - Oh you didn't. And how do you identify the minority - oh you can't. So don't deliver catalogues to houses with no cold calling signs! As for not collecting catalogues: Yes I agree the catalogues should be collectedWe would never entertain coming to your work place and being rude to you or swearing at you (this also goes for shopworkers who get a lot of that too, I know I worked in a shop before). If it was me I would pay heed and respect any signs. As you sometimes choose to ignore the signs you should take the flak. The man without a signature.0 -
I didn't used to mind, but we now have a completely over-zealous Avon rep in our area. Catalogue arrives, collection date two weeks later, catalogue gets collected, new one arrives within 3 days! It's constant.
Going to put a note out saying no more next time as it's getting too much. I don't mind if they put one through every couple of months but this is ridiculous.0 -

I have a sign saying no cold callers, menus, catalogues etc but they still get put through much to the delight of my Jack Russell. he shreds everything that comes through the door in a total frenzy. the free newspaper is his favourite because the girl has a tug of war with him while shouting about the stupid effing dog. he then shreds every sheet while tossing it high in the air:D
the betterware caller gave me a mouthful of abuse when i told him sorry the dog had shredded the book.yet he still put another through........when he called to collect the bag full of shredded dog drool soaked paper he kicked off again. i politely pointed the sign out and explained it was because of the dog destroying everything and he just stormed off muttering.:oShine on you crazy diamond..............0 -
So glad I bin the catalogued I dont care if it offends you, you and others offend me by invading my privacy in my home. I want to relax at home without being pestered by cold callers whether that's on phone or at the door.
If you cant stand that try another line of work preferable one that doesn't annoy others
Oh and try using a line in your sentences, it makes it easy on the eye on what you are trying to conveyenglishinwales wrote: »I am a Betterware Rep and love the job I do. Whether its wet, dry, hot or cold I am out there delivering and collecting catalogues.
