Or just throw them in the bin. Has the same effect.

I'm not in when we get our weekly catalogues through the door, each time from a different person. Am I expected to take a day off work to inform the distributor that I don't want their catalogues any more?

    I agree

A no cold caller sign means the !!!! goes in the bin. It also means if you knock I will tell you to Fcuk off

And that is your decision, the cold calling sign is defined by the Government not us.

It actually makes it more difficult for us.

I will not disuss no cold calling zones further, you all know it does not prevent catalogue distributors. And to the person who is going to swear at a distributor, why - would you rather they sat on the dole!

    Strange attitude from some people.

Being polite does not cost you anything and it shows you have some dignity.

why swear?? thats easy, after a busy day at work we do not want time wasters at the door. If we need anything we buy it. Not crap from a door to door seller

It is a bit of a grey area

Not a grey area as far as I am concerned, they go straight in the bin and if someone knocks asking for it they get told where they can put their catalogue.

    Quite black and white.:p

Bayness - it's quite simple - if they have a notice requesting no cold callers don't leave a catalogue - they don't want one!
I was under the impression that distributors had to pay for catalogues. If that is indeed the case then you are wasting your money leaving them with people who do not want them!

  • I use the no cold callers sign and have added a note to the bottom stating that any literature posted through my letterbox will be binned. And the ones who ignore it find out when they call and ask for the catalogue. They never come again.

    Politeness should work both ways.
If people have signs stating no cold callers, we don't buy from doorstep sellers, or signs with similar wording, surely it is polite to take notice of the householders wishes.

Why won't you discuss it? Is it because you know that you are wrong and you are getting a taste for how pi**ed off people get with companies who ignore these signs?

No smoking signs don't always prevent people from lighting up, so does that give everyone the right to ignore the notices?
