The signs on the door - betterware and avon ect are told not to take any notice of them, as they are not knocking on the door to sell a product so rightly or wrongly thats why you will get these catalogues. Ripping them up is not nice, these people have to pay for the catalogues and do so to try to earn some money, maybe just leave a note in with your address on requesting no more?
Also when a new rep takes over, they often aren't told any details of the previous reps custoers so they have to do the whole area from scratch, whch is another reason you might get them after requesting no more. Just folk tryng to earn a living, and to be fair, how long does it take to put a book on your step for them?

I just scoop them up now with the rest of the unwanted rubbish that comes through my letterbox and chuck them in the recycling bin next to the front door.

I really don't care what the catalogue company tells them - If they ignore the sign saying no cold caller/no flyers/no unsolicted mail then I owe them no consideration either.

when you put your note in the next catalogue make sure you remember to put your address on because if he goes through a big pile at the end of a collecting run he won't know who you are!

Well the courtesey he expects is something we all deserve. I've delivered leaflets on a voluntary basis in the past and we was frequently briefed that if possible we should push the leaflet all the way through.

This thread has made me realise that for years we used to get one of these catalogues (various companies) every couple of weeks but we haven't had one for some months.

Long may the trend continue. :)

  • I don't mind leaving the catalogue out for them, but our local bloke doesn't tell you when he is coming back for the orders. They have been littering the hallway of our flats for over a week now, and I collected them up and stuck them in the central recycling shed.

If they have a problem, I explain that if you give me an unsolicited gift, you don't have the right to demand it back or ask for money. If you put a catalogue through my door, I have no intention of paying for it, and if you don't tell me when you are coming back, I'm not about to save it for a rainy day.

  • I don't mind the catalogues so much, it's the plastic "charity" bags that come through 3 times a day that annoys me!

Each brochure makes me a little bit sad/angry as it's a sign that another person trying to better themselves has been hoodwinked by the 'Earn extra ££££££££ in your spare time' scammers and the "£200 for 2 hrs work' liars.

I would leave the catalouge on the doorstep on the appointed collection date with a note for the rep "no more catalogues please"

If he/she leaves another I would bin it.

They have to pay for these catalogues and will get the message :j

I had a note put through my door asking if I could leave the Avon catalogue on the doorstep ASAP... not inclined to do anything for anyone I don't know who tells me in capitals it has to be done AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!!;)
