Does anyone know if I can reclaim charges from storecards and credit cards?
Background:
I worked for a company on a very low wage which a) paid by cheque and b) not regularly, which meant that any direct debits I had set up to pay my monthly cc and storecard bills often got bounced and in turn I got charged. THEN I got made redundant (best thing that ever happened to me, in my opinion) and am slowly getting back to no indebtedness. This is taking time however, and I still have outstanding balances including charges.
Just wanted you all to know some history of my situation.
Thanks to Money Saving Expert for giving me a light at the end of the tunnelGettting there!

Hello all,
Im new to this board, strange after hearing Martin on Jeremy Vine so much
Anyhow, i sent my letter to HSBC today asking for my statements etc.
My questions are, im currently on a debt management plan through Payplan, MBNA is one of my creditors, one of the reasons im on a dmp now is because of their charges over several months, keeping me over my limit etc, thing is tho, even tho i pay them a set amount every month, they never agreed the payment. I would love to claim my charges back off them, but im fearful of them turning round and demanding my balance be paid in full, something im not able to do, also all my defaults were lodged last year, so only 5 yrs to go on them, so dont want a ccj now, because of another year wait added on. So are they likely to demand the balance be paid in full or is it possible it could sneak around different offices?
Also regarding the question above, the creditors who have moved me onto a debt agency, can i claim charges back from say EGG, even tho im paying someone else to clear my debt with them, they cant also turn around and demand full payment?
Thanks for any help.0 -
All of the banks/financial companies can and some do close accounts. They all will expect their money repaid at some stage and if you claim back charges from them they are likely to expect this money to go towards it.
As regards DMP/IVA please have a read of this thread ....

Hi
I have a current account, loan account and credit card account with Lloyds TSB so I was wondering if I need to send 3 seperate letters and payment for each account,or, one letter to cover all of them? I have incurred charges on each account.
Any advise greatly appreciated.
Thanks0 -
