Sweetibiza, you're right.
He will not be there to help in those instances.
So you have paid him £600 for something, and it is of course entirely wrong that he has not supplied the goods.
But even if the goods were supplied, you would still be £600 down, wouldn't you?
So if the goods had been supplied, you would still have to find money for council tax and heating.
You have to take some responsibility for your situation yourself.
After all, it was you who decided to buy from this guy.
It was you who decided that paying by bank transfer was ok.
It was you who decided that you could afford the thing and still heat your house and pay council tax bills.
Take some responsibility? They bought and paid for an item in good faith and although BACS transfer isn't a partiularly common payment method, it's still a payment method, which doesn't really give any less protection than paying with a debit card or cheque.
These people who have bought from Redstar have done nothing wrong. Redstar are the people in the wrong, at best they have not ran their business properly, at worst the whole thing is a scam.0 -
Brian has emailed me this morning after I asked him to post online himself. He was concerned that he will be torn to pieces - I can understand that completely.0

I will agree that BACS transfer and cheques offer similar levels of protection to the consumer. They bought and paid for an item in good faith and although BACS transfer isn't a partiularly common payment method, it's still a payment method, which doesn't really give any less protection than paying with a debit card or cheque.
You can probably add cash and Western Union et al to the list of payment methods that have little protection if things go wrong.
Debit cards, particularly VISA, do offer more protection though (I notice you didn't mention credit cards).
See this MSE article... towards the bottom.0 -

Yep I didn't mention credit cards due to the protection you get from them as pointed out in the article.
The point I am trying to make is people shouldn't be made to feel like they need to " take some resonsibility" for being ripped off just because they paid by a BACS transfer and not by either a credit card or Visa debit card.0 -

Guys for those of you that are having contact with Brian Harrison direct I would not trust too much in what you are being told.
I asked for a refund on Jan 4th, was told that it would be processed when the payment office opened on 7th Jan. I called up to see if it had been done and told it had been delayed and was quoted the 30 day clause, but that they would process asap for me as they had my money since November. Then I was promised a new date which came and went, I told them I would fund the cost of a CHAPS payment to just get the money back in my account same day. Kelly Adair told me to leave it with her, 3 days later she emailed me back to say that they would not do a CHAPS payment as they "didn't want me to have to pay out". Then i was told a new date of Friday 21st Jan was a guarenteed refund date. I phoned up on Monday 24th to check if it had been done, alas it had been delayed again and a new date of 27th was given.
The 27th came and went and I received an email saying that Kelly had left but my order was being dispatched, I then had to go through all the hassle of explaining to the new girl that I wanted a refund, leave it with me she said and i will sort it out. Few days later she had left too!! Then the site updated that it had ceased trading and I have had no reply to any of my emails since.
I summise that everyone is being strung along the same way I was and that no refunds will be processed on Monday as promised by Brian. if i am wrong I will hold my hands up but the question I ask is that you all asked for refunds when the company went bust on Feb 8th. I started my saga on Jan 4th, surely I would have been in the first batch of refunds to be processed??
Secondly, does anyone have anything other than a 1011 order number?? Anyone???0
