    Yay Pebble, well done!

I'm 8+2 today and have my booking appointment with Midwife at 3pm, can't wait. Not sure what to expect but just going to turn up and enjoy it.

Still undecided about when to tell my supervisor at work. I'm so tired and demotivated, I feel I ought to 'fess up, but it still feels a little early yet. Thoughts?

Hello everyone  Hope I'm ok to join you all! I found out I was pregnant a few weeks ago, not sure how many weeks I'm at exactly but the conception was around the beginning of March. If I'm being honest I'm not excited at all, although I'm not sure if it's because it still hasn't sunk in yet. I'm also dreading telling people, we told my fiancees parents and his dad was excited but his mam basically told us to buck our ideas up and we'd have to change our ways and told me off which was quite upsetting :( Especially since his sister's just had a baby and she was really excited and supportive to her about it! I know my mam will be really excited but that's almost as bad in my eyes, I don't want everyone to make a huge fuss over me. I'm terrible aren't I?! :rotfl:

Another thing I wanted to ask advice about is work, I moved about a month ago, and I've been looking for a new job in our new town for a few months with no luck. Should I tell my current job that I'm pregnant as I'm hoping that I won't be there for much longer anyway? Plus while I'm applying for new jobs, do I need to tell them about it and will it look bad if I'm applying for maternity not long after I start working there? It's all very confusing!

Anyway, sorry for the giant essay for my first post :rotfl:

    Hi everyone!

I too have been in and out reading this thread and the TTC one. ANYWAY, I have done a pregnancy test today and its come up as a positive!! im so happy but in shock.. my cycles are 30 days ish give or take a day. I didnt expect my period to be due till the weekend. but ive been so queasy, irritable and spotty the last couple of days i thought sod it, its early, i know itll be a negative, but im doing one anyway! Its a DEF lone but now im thinking this is rather early could it be wrong?? i know from baby one and being on this site that people say if the chemicals/hormones are there, itll be a positive and it cant be wrong.. think its shock as i say. ive already booked an appointment at the docs for monday.. just dont want to tell hubby this evening if im wrong!!! thanks for reading my drivel, just had to get it off my chest!! x

:( Hi ladies, Had my first appointment with my GP this morning to get "on the books" so to speak.
Feel a bit blurgh about it all now. Just got a 5 minute spiel about likely sequence of appointments/scans, and then told that my two preferred hospitals for delivery are so over subscribed that i won't be accepted, and that i have to go for one of the other two, both classified as "least well performing" in their reviews, one of which is the 8th worst in the country, and the other not far behind. Horror stories about them weekly- people delivering in corridors, being left alone with legs in stirrups and doors open, 8cm dilated etc etc
Now i have to wait just over 2 weeks to see if i am accepted, and given dates for booking in and scan, and if i'm not accepted, then start again with another 2 weeks, which seems the most likely scenario.

Its all pants and i'm feeling very down and emotional!

Whereabouts are you? You can always be 'on holiday' when you 'just happen' to go into labour near a good hospital anywhere in the counrty, they can't turn you away if you're in Labour I don't think.

Hiya. I like your thinking ;). Worked for Sam Cameron after all!! I had wondered about a "labour holiday" as a possibility for the labour itself- assuming we have time to get somewhere else further away!! Won't help with the cr&p antenatal services they offer tho'. I think from the reviews, attitude problem, long waiting times and terrible processes seems to sum it up. Tip. Don't live in SW london/North Surrey if you want decent maternity care!

Apols to anyone NHS reading this who is in the area- i know alot of staff are great, but the stats speak for themselves in this area!

hey claire bear and djdy, lovely to see you and congratulations!

djdy I know you can get a false negative I had one myself but as far as i know you cant have a false positive as only the pregnancy hormones can make that little line appear on the test!! So very much think you are my dear! Best go and see the docs to make sure though.

Claire bear hun just my opinion but I think a perspective employer wouldn't be overjoyed that a new employee was looking to go on maternity leave not long after starting so it might be a little bit more difficult to find a new job than normal.

Well I've just come back from my dads and have to say I feel horrid, really hot sort of fluey temp but really cold, really not right and I couldnt eat much dinner either, it doesn't feel like MS either, I just really don't feel well, I do hope I feel better soon :( best I sleep tonight too!!

There are some cases where cysts can cause a false positive on a test, but I think it's really *really* rare.

Agreed about possibly not telling about being pregnant at interviews. In the least, I would wait until you're past that "danger zone" and maybe tell then, if you are still searching. You're only legally required to tell from 15 weeks before your due date (so, about 25 weeks), so you're covered that way at least.

Kira, have you thought about having a home birth. I have some time to decide, but my midwife asked briefly about it at my booking appt. and she said that our local midwives (two areas work together) have great success with home births and she actually recommended it as it's much more relaxing for the mum, and she thought that labor progressed better! :)

Welcome to Claire and djdy! :)

    @missymoo....get some sleep! :D

Feeling a bit better here each day...still nauseous most of the time, but I'm thinking maybe that second trimester respite is coming my way soon. Slightly nerve wracking day though, with a bit of blood that I'm nearly 100% sure was from poo troubles (TMI) and then later feeling like I was ripping off a nipple after going swimming (wet bra cups on the suit moving = searing pain). Well, I definitely know not to do that again.

Got to tell my boss today. They had a death in the family recently and so was thinking about waiting, but then the extra relatives left and the time just seemed right. Much hugging and a few tears (been with this family for more than 3 years, so they've been there through it all :D) A day of wild emotions!
