Claire bear hun just my opinion but I think a perspective employer wouldn't be overjoyed that a new employee was looking to go on maternity leave not long after starting so it might be a little bit more difficult to find a new job than normal.

This is what I'm worried about, I just don't know how I'd mention it to any potential employers though, I can hardly go in and say 'Hi, I'm pregnant, here's my CV' :rotfl: I'm desperate to move jobs though as I absolutely hate my current one so the timing is a nightmare!

Missymoo I have the same thing, as well as a cough and a sore throat, a lot of people I know have had it lately so there might be a bug going around? Make sure you get lots of R&R and drink lots of fluids etc and look after yourself chick :)

Congratulations and welcome to Claire Bear and DJDY

You can get a false positive on a pg test, I had one at a hospital years ago. The nurses were all congratulating me and I knew I wasn't PG as we hadn't even DTD that month. The fertility specialist told me that if you take a high does Vit C supplement (which I used to) this can cause a false positive.

In terms of job hunting I would say that if you do get a new job then you will probably be on 6 months probation to start with, so if you do announce that you're pg before the 6 months is up, if they want to find a way to get rid of you then they will. Sorry to be on a downer about it, and although it is illegal it still happens. They just won't say it's because you're pg. Plus you probably won't be entitled to Occupational Maternity Pay in a new job. Personally I would stay put until after maternity leave, then apply for other jobs.

Has anyone tried sea bands to relieve MS. My sister gave me hers that she had used for MS and they are helping. The only problem is that they apply a lot a pressure to your wrist, and the plastic stud that presses into the acu-pressure point really hurts when I take it off. It feels like I have a very nasty bruise. I've been wearing the bands on both wrists, but was wondering if anyone knows how effective they are if you just wear one and alternate which wrist you wear it on?

    Hi All,

My 1st post in this thread :D

I have done 3 tests and they have all come back positive ( 1 cheap test and then 2 of the digital clear blue tests just to be sure). Also I have not had my period which has never happened since coming off the pill so im fairly sure im pregnant. If I take the 1st day of my last period then that makes me due on 1st Jan 2012

I have an appointment booked with the doctor on Thursday and I just wondered if anyone can tell me what to expect as I have no idea.

We have been trying since around November so guess it happened quite easily considering I was on the pill for around 12 years. Also I am still aware there is a chance im not Pregnant but im feeling fairly sure I am. Any advice on what to expect appreciated :D

Kira I would also say that although I love the hospital my children were all born in (all four of them!) some people have written shocking reviews of it, but I have only ever been treated with respect and care (with the exception of one HCA who got into loads of trouble for it mwahahaha that'll teach her to be rude to patients), all the births have been well managed and all my children are fine, I'd recommend it to anyone.

Do you mean the intervention stats? because the local ones to me, I shall say big and small as I'd give away too much with the names.

Small has a green light (ie no c sections or intervention)
Big has a red light (high percentage of interventions)

This is misleading because if anyone who is in Labour at 'small' has a problem, they whack them in an ambulance and blue light them to 'big', giving 'small' the green light (which has no bearing on what actully happens) and leaves 'big' with high intervention stats, because 'big' is a proper maternity hospital with special care and doctors and theaters, and small is just one midwife led ward in another hospital.

This made me quite cross when I found that chart :rotfl:

Well I'm 11 +1 or 11 +3 depending what dates you go on, and I am still yet to have my scan dates through!!! grrrr

Anyone else have no enthusiasm at all for work at the moment, I just feel like it is pointless me being there, am really not enjoying it and would just quite like to spend the whole day in bed :D!! Honestly I'm not a lazy cow!:D

Hoping for some kind of post today from docs/hospital about appt or scan, has been nearly 2 weeks now. Am limited to having any appt during half term week too as I'll be on teaching placement so will be hard to have to arrange anything in school time. Just want to get the the 12 week point so I can tell people properly, only a handful of close friends and family know at the moment and it's starting to get a bit awkward with the avoiding questions or downright lying about stuff! Been into uni today and everyone else is applying for jobs so were talking about that, I just tried to stay out of the conversation but then someone asked me if I had applied for any and had to come up with some random answer about not looking just yet.

Apart from that, feeling generally OK which is slightly disconcerting as at least when you feel sick all the time you know it's happening for a reason. Have got this awful essay just about finished to hand in tomorrow so am looking forward to a few nice free days before the school visits and placement starts which will be stress central!

Ooh lots of new ladies!!! Congratulations!!

I haven't been on in a while but I have had lots going on plus I am 14 weeks now so I should be in the other thread lol. But will still be lurking here and posting occasionally.

Have had to buy some maternity jeans. And it's comforting being the 2nd trimester. It's starting to feel very real now! I think to myself only 6 weeks until my 20 week scan then it's only 4 weeks after that when the baby is viable. It helps keep me sane lol.

Does anyone know where to get good supportive/maternity bras for larger ladies. I already have a larger bust and it just keeps growing so am in need of some good bras lol not that hubby is complaining lol.

Huge cravings for cheese and for sweet stuff which isn't good as I'm diabetic and sweet stuff generally doesn't bother me anymore but since becoming pregnant I just want to pig out on chocolate and cakes and biscuits arghhh! lol

I am 23 and look about 16 which is annoying but it's great to see the look on peoples faces when they see I'm wearing a wedding ring! When we bought the first pg tests we were in the queue and this woman in her 50's was behind us and giving us dodgy looks then she realised we were married and she just had a huge grin on her face lol.

I find mints really helped with my sickness (and avoiding Philadelphia!)

Glad the scan went well! We pay £5 for 3/4 pictures - can't remember sorry. We get the scan picture at the 12 week scan for *free* then at the 20 week scan pay £5 for the photos at both scans. Then you can pay extra if you want extras like lots of pics on disk etc. Hope your chat goes well tonight.
