    question:

What do people think about home births, although it is my first one, I think I would quite like one, I said at the midwife appt that I would like it to be at the hospital, but the more I think about it the more I would like it to be at home. Is this advised for the first pregnancy and what are the risks is there a website I can look at?

Lurking from the main thread :D
I love the idea of a homebirth and was totally set on one for myself (1st pregnancy) I have realised it's not really practical for me as OH feels v uncomfortable about it and I live in a flat & don't really want the neighbours hearing me moan but there is no reason whatsoever not to have one for your first pregnancy.

Have a look at http://www.homebirth.org.uk/ there are lots of positive stories there. Also if you go to baby and bump website there is a "natural birth" section with lots of lovely women to advise. Even though Im going for the MW led unit now, I want my birth to be as natural as possible so that forum has proved a useful tool for me.

I'm not doing tears but I losing my temper really quickly and harshly.. the poor children daren't breathe in case I jump on their heads!

Homebirths.. fine for first birth... Take into account how far you are from the nearest hospital should it be required, just in case and work it into your plan.. eg.. it might take 45 mintues to get to the hospital which might mean a baby in distress wouldn't maybe no make it.. or you might be 3 minutes away like I am, in which case all will be ok.. but if it is what you want.. go for it.

pigpen I'm like that too, I just switch from one to the other, just feel like rubbish especially as OH is away and work is really stressful, just feel like hiding under the covers and not coming out until November!!

I've been pretty close to it! Got all upset at the docs yesterday when they forgot about me, and i waited 45 minutes after i was due to be seen before they twigged they missed me out! I was trying to be cool about it but went all weepy on the poor doctor. Oops!

    Welcome Mimi and congratulations!

Lol @ tears. Last night we were surfing/reading/watching TV and it was that program called "Fast Food Babies" or something like that. At one point, this is the conversation between 2 1/2 year old and mum at the market:

    Boy: Pear!
    Mum: Yeah, pears!
    Boy: I like pear!
Mum: You've never tasted a pear!
(then didn't buy him a pear)

I totally lost it. I mean really, buy the kid a pear. Tears streaming. Urgh. :p

Other day reading a baby book talking about how mums fear the loss of their husband/parent/best friend, etc. before the baby comes. I thought I was going to lose it right there on the bus.
