Hmm, well apparently iplayer etc are positively managed, and torrents are ok provided you do them outside peak times (4pm - midnight). If you don't mind me asking, what do you do that makes you say that?
I download pr0n 24/7 :grouphug:
I don't agree with ISPs managing internet traffic. I pay for 'Up to 20meg download speed' and routinely get full speed as I'm close to the exchange. I certainly don't want O2 slowing me down.0 -
According to bt I can get up to 8 megs.
According to Sky I can get between 10 - and 20 megs
On my current o2 I tend to get between 8 and 11.
Life is just far too confusing.0 -
I phoned retention a couple of days ago and asked for my mac code telling them i was not happy with the 9.50 increase. This polite lady manage to convince me to move onto the all rounder package with 6 months free and furthermore i had a 14 days cooling period. Sadly the following day even though i had up to 20mb speed, I realised that, it took longer than expected to download so i phoned them to request to put back on my old package. To my disbelief, i was told they had no record of the conversation that their colleague saying i had 14 days cooling period and that I could either hand in my notice or stick with this All rounder package because old standard package does exist any longer.
Any suggestions0 -

When I called back retentions I got offered the same deal, 6 months free if I moved from the old £10 a month package to the All Rounder, the guy from retentions though was very clear, that if I went ahead with the move, I would have a 14 day cancellation period, but all it would achieve is to cancel my contract and I'd be kept on the all rounder without my 6 months free. He was clear in that there was no way back to the old package from the moment I said yes.0 -

I was only told that i had a 14 days cooling period but nothing about being stuck on this all rounder package.I dont mind paying 12.50 after 6months but the download speed is awful. Did you take up their offer CG19a ?
what a rip off.....Are there any providers out there without traffic management or can I get back on my old package?0 -

I was also told exactly that i.e. although I will have 14 days cooling off period, once I agree to move to the new All rounder package, I wiil not be able to move back to the old package.0 -
I took up the offer. I don't download that much that the traffic management will annoy me too much. Most of my usage is just general browsing.0

I've read a lot of people have been told exactly that: the basis no doubt being you have entered into a new contract, the old one being terminated. If you cancel the new one, you are left with no contract. You could put in a written complaint as follows. You were told you had a cooling off period, you were not advised as you now are, you could not return to your old package (and there's no excuse not to have so informed you). Make clear you're staying on the new package under protest pending determination of your complaint as they are giving you no option to revert to the old package. Ask them to review the telephone recording. I'm not clear if they are saying they have no record of you being advised you had 14 days to cool off or no recording at all. Well clearly there was a call and they are unlikely to dispute they offer customers a 14 days cool off. The real issue is if they properly advised you that if you were unhappy you could cancel within 14 days but under no circumstances could return to your old contract. If the complaint is not upheld or even if it is and they (as they will) say they cannot reinstate your old contract, you can complain to Otelo (office of telecommunications ombudsman). It seems to me entirely appropriate that customers who were poorly advised or misled should have their old contracts reinstated. I expect an Ombudsman would recommend that as a just outcome, provided the telephone recording supports the customer version of events.0 -
