It seems like o2 are turning into TalkTalk Mark 2. What a shame.0

Sponge , interesting, where did you get that table from?
O2's website. Shocking, isn't it?
Not sure if the link will work.
O2 Traffic Management0 -
It does indeed thanks
Do they shape the traffic this way on the legacy packages I wonder?0 -
I think one of the selling points of the legacy packages was that there was no traffic shaping. Hence o2s desperation to get all their legacy customers onto the much inferior new pacakges.0

I only get 1mb with my poor line anyway but less than that for Iplayer is disgraceful.
50kbits is 0.5 meg - on the Basics , thats appalling! Makes a mockery of any advertised speeds. It will default to the lower quality setting assuming it will run at all.0 -
O2 is just too successful. 50kb/s = 0.006MB/s. A typical MP3 file is usally 1.5MB, which will take 250 seconds, ie. more than 4 minutes to be downloaded.0

Indeed. It's bad enough consumers have to live with quotes like '...up to...' (re download speeds) but then they have to contend with traffic management. The worst part? They're as good as hiding it. Yes, it's in the T&Cs for all to see, but it's hard to find and let's be honest, how many of us take the time to read them all in depth. And they certainly don't advertise TM. Heh, why would they? Customers would run a mile.
As MillicentBystander said, the old legacy products had no traffic shaping. So people that aren't prepared to switch ISP, or move to one of O2's new packages, have to take the price rise.0 -
BT is providing landline + 10 GB/month internet for £14. Sounds interesting.Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.0
