So at the time our monthly cost would have been £5.11 for 12 months but will now be £7.00 - not a huge difference but annoying all the same.
You can still get on to retentions and see if they will offer you the 6 months free to stay with them another 12 months now they put the prices up.
Persevere and you will end up paying £4.75!0 -
I was on the Premium package at £10pm and had an email saying it was increasing to £13pm.
Was thinking about changing telephone supplier anyway since I only have BT for broadband and feel £14pm for line rental is a bit steep.
Called them tonight and they offered £7.50pm standard O2 line rental with the 'all rounder' broadband package at £12.50pm, six months free.
Worked this out as approx £13 per month over twelve months which is almost half of the £27pm I would have been paying come April... I'm happy. Could have haggled I suppose but a 50% saving is decent enough.Sorted out my finances...

Edit: Just noticed that Be do have landline and call packages too, but even so £10.72 for Be's line rental/evening & weekend and Be pro at £22.44 = £33.16 a month - I'm on the equivalent from Sky costing me £21.25 (first 3 months are £11.25).
I tried signing up to that, but due to a c**k up at Sky's end I've had to cancel tonight. My phone line was set to be activated on the 14th, but they hadn't even begun to process my broadband order! I did the whole thing online as a single order so dunno what went on, but I'm not waiting the 'up to 10 working days' for connection after the 14th.
Now to try O2 retentions again - think I'll stick with them as their service has been amazing this past three years after all. Unless I become tempted by BT Infinity (just looking into how they throttle usenet, and if there's a way around it).0 -

I'm currently on the 02 Home Broadband Premium (£10.50 p/m including mobile discount), and was informed that my package would increase to £13 p/m in the price rise. I have been offered the following by 02 retentions:
1) Discount of £2.50 p/m on current legacy package if I renewed contract for further 12 months. Effectively staying at the same price.
2) 6 months free broadband for moving to new 'All Rounder' package, with 100GB limit, £12.50 p/m thereafter, 12 month contract.
From what I've read in this thread, there seems to be another option of getting 6 months free broadband on my current legacy package? I'm curious to know if anyone has managed to get this deal on the old Premium Broadband tariff?
I must say if I'm not offered that deal, I am tempted to go for the new All Rounder package - I don't download a huge amount, but still a bit concerned about any possible affect on speed or performance owing to traffic shaping or capping...
Just to update: I was going to go for the All Rounder package in the end (putting slight worries over traffic management/capping aside), but when I called up this afternoon - was offered the 6 months discount on my current legacy package! :j. It goes to show that it may well be worth calling back again to speak with someone different.
I'm really happy with that deal, so thanks fellow Money Savers for the heads up.0 -
I also signed up today for another year. As I don't have an O2 mobile discount, the '6 months off' wasn't available to me (2 previous advisors told me that's only available to people taking advantage of the mobile discount), so I took the £5 off a month instead.
Signed up with BT for a year's rolling contract line rental at £10.60pm as well - as they're soon to become illegal it won't be an issue when I have to renew.
Hopefully in a year or so there'll be some more FTTC options. I almost signed up with BTInfinity last night but thought better of it due to their horrendous torrent throttling.0 -
I am on the old Premium package, paying £7.66pm - £15.32 less £2.55 discount given for renewing last year and less £5.11 for having an O2 mobile contract.
On phoning to check the new prices, I was offered the following alternatives to continue my existing package, based on new rate of £13pm, ie £18pm less £5 mobile discount:
£10.50pm (£13 less £2.50 discount) for 12 months, ie £126pa, or
6 months free and 6 months at £13, ie £78pa - I imagine the charge will be at least £13pm after that
If willing to take the new Basics Package, I was offered the following:
12 months at £5.50pm, ie £66pa, or
3 months free and 9 months at £8.50, ie £76.50pa - I imagine the charge will be at least £8.50pm after that
I have been happy with O2 service so far, and it beats my previous ISP hands down for good customer service, and am reluctant to leave although I do note the concerns about O2's traffic management. That makes me reluctant to consider their Basics Package.
I am inclined to renew my existing package, probably taking the 6 free months option. Does anyone know if O2 has offered any better terms than this for someone in my position?0 -

Anyone else on the "Access" package (e.g. phone exchange in the middle of nowhere!!)
O2's website says this will be £27.50 (£22.50 if you have an O2 mobile)
However, in the email about the price change it says it's going to be £20.50
Not sure if I should check if this is a mistake or keep quiet and hope the price drop stays.0 -
been offered the £5.50 tariff per month for Basic Broadband, plus I plan to take their home phone too for £7.50, it would be £13 per month for 12 months contract, which is what I pay for my BT landline alone at current. . . . is this a good deal?0
