Perhaps I could have tried holding out for the 6 months free offer that others have got, but tbh I would have stayed on O2 at £9.50/month so to get it for £7 (i.e. *less* than I have been paying for the past three years) is fine by me :D

Didn't take much holding out for the 6mths free deal for my friend. She is on the legacy Standard package and was offered £2.50 off to stay on the same package. She mentioned that I already had been given the 6mths free deal on the Standard package and O2 "suddenly" found that deal was also available.

    Hi

I have just cancelled, and have been told unless I return router I will have a £50 charge! I am well out of contract, so was very surprised at this. Has anyone else been told this??

    Thanks

    Sue

Most ISPs say that you have to return the router, when I cancelled with O2 they sent me a big jiffy bag with a freepost label to send it back.

when i asked for mac code they sent jiffy to send router back , but since have decided to stay & got 12mts free on the works so they sent me their new best router but yesterday i got another jiffy !! looks like they still want the old router back for some reason even though im staying with them ,was going to keep it for back up , might just wait c if they send another then ill have to send it back !!!!!:(
  • Called up O2, spoke to the retention team directly and was straight away offered 6 months free for a 12 months contract, asked about the £2.50 offer, the bloke said he could only offer 6 months free or the £2.50 offer and could not offer both.

I have been happy with O2 would have stayed even if there was no discount offered, so very happy with the 6 month free BB, it turns out that I would pay about £4.75 per month to stay on the legacy package, unlimited broadband.

    Very happy!!!

Their routers are always on loan - if you don't send the old one back expect a charge for it.

No need to SHOUT! You don't need to use the CD at all, just log into the router interface and enter your 02 broadband username and password. that should be all you need to do, other than set up your wireless encryption.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
