I have been happy with O2 would have stayed even if there was no discount offered, so very happy with the 6 month free BB, it turns out that I would pay about £4.75 per month to stay on the legacy package, unlimited broadband.
Very happy!!!
I don't think you know how *Lucky* you are to be offered the six months free straight away !!! I bet the retentions person was a bit taken aback when you asked about £2.50 off as well.
Lots of people have got 6 months free on their legacy packs but me and many others only got the £2.50 off which isn't nearly as good.

You gave in too easily! You only had to hang up and keep ringing back again until you spoke to a more reasonable retentions person.
Well worth making a few free calls to get the effective price of £4.75 per month over the year. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -

You are right but too late now
I only found out about the six months free from reading about it here. I got offered 12 months free broadband if switching landline/calls to o2 or £2.50 off existing package for a new 12 month contract so just went for that.0 -

You do have a cooling off period you know... Call back and say give me 6 months free or I want my MAC!
I did consider doing that but in the end I didn't want to mess things up. I just keep telling myself that £7 a month is better than £9.50......it's just not as good as £4.75.
I am actually thinking I might have missed out more by not taking the 12 months free broadband with line rental. I don't do a lot of downloads and so I might have been OK on the new packages !0 -
I have been trying to get the six month free deal for over two weeks - called about four times but each time was told only £2.50 discount was available. I even asked for my MAC code during one call and was about to be given it so told operator that someone was at the door and i would call them back.
Today i thought i would give it one last shot as i was going to accept the £2.50 discount anyway. I tried a different approach and told the operator that i had called earlier in the week and was offered either the six months free or the £2.50 discount. The operator checked my notes but said they couldnt see any mention of the six months, but went on to say that i must have been offered this or how would i know about it.
Result at last :j and heres the proof.[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]

'Tis a bit sneaky Matthew but at least you got what others had been offered straight away........some without even mentioning leaving !
I don't think I could have done that but given you have been through at least five times I think you deserve it0 -

Nice idea to say you will call them back I might give it a go myself.
Much better then them giving you the MAC code and waiting till that expires and starting the process all over again.
It does look though from what has been said too many are trying it for the 6 months free and they are only now only giving you the £2.50 per month off0 -
Morning All,
I'm currently on the 02 Home Broadband Premium (£10.50 p/m including mobile discount), and was informed that my package would increase to £13 p/m in the price rise. I have been offered the following by 02 retentions:
1) Discount of £2.50 p/m on current legacy package if I renewed contract for further 12 months. Effectively staying at the same price.
2) 6 months free broadband for moving to new 'All Rounder' package, with 100GB limit, £12.50 p/m thereafter, 12 month contract.
From what I've read in this thread, there seems to be another option of getting 6 months free broadband on my current legacy package? I'm curious to know if anyone has managed to get this deal on the old Premium Broadband tariff?
I must say if I'm not offered that deal, I am tempted to go for the new All Rounder package - I don't download a huge amount, but still a bit concerned about any possible affect on speed or performance owing to traffic shaping or capping...0 -
Dont really feel like i have been cheeky - the six month deal had been offered to many people - its about time companies gave incentives to keep and appreciate loyal customers and not just the new ones.
IF YOU HAVNT HAD THE SIX MONTHS FREE OFFERED THEN KEEP TRYING.0
