  • fruitpie, what do you use your internet for?

With the speeds you are getting I don't think it would matter which package as the speed is so poor.

Are you an O2 customer for mobile too? If so then the prices are a little high, but if not then sound ok to me.

I told him that we are only getting about 1.5 speed anyway, and we are only 1 mile from the Exchange. !! :(

Sounds like you have a wiring problem inside the house - do you have extensions?

I'm almost 1.97km from the exchange and get 5.5Mb/6Mb.

Thank you guys for your replies.

Yes, we are o2 customers for homephone and my iphone.

My Hubbie is going mad about our slow speeds.

Hubbie says -- the cable for the router is about 5 foot long and goes from the BT master socket straight into the router.

Also he says about 1.5 megs wireless and hard wired. ! ? doesnt really make a difference at what time of day or night he does the speed check either. arrrrrggghhhhhh!

Just called and went through their cancellation team. Straight away offered 6 months free and 6 monthsat £13. not bad for 45 seconds of time!

    Well done :j 45 seconds !

Seems that some o2 staff are happy to offer 6 months free on a legacy tariff, including the £9.50 one, as soon as they pick up the phone.

Do you have only a master socket or do you have other phone extensions?

Have you tried the test socket behind the master socket faceplate?

In that case you should be getting a MUCH better deal IMHO.

I too get the O2 customer discount and for The All Rounder package I got 6 months free then 6 months at £12.50...

So basically £6.25 per month. Not saying that is the best deal on here, some people might have got better deals, but I would aim for my deal as a minimum.

Hi Guys, Can you help me please.

Just rang o2 - spoke to a very nice chap, however I feel quite confused as to what is best to do !

We dont stream, or do the iplayer, or down load films.

He offered new packages at :-

The Basic package - 20gigs download at £8.50 per month but will let me have it for £5.50. Or

The Allrounder 100gigs at £12.50 but will let me have it for £9.50.

I told him that we are only getting about 1.5 speed anyway, and we are only 1 mile from the Exchange. !! :(

He then said I will send you a new Router N class for free with the Allrounder.

I could stay on my old package (Premium £10.00) with a deduction of £2.50

Please help me - so confused .....and how come they are unable to tell you straight and outright what your Usage is anyway !! ??

    Thank you
They'll give you much better deals than than if you push them since you have both line rental and broadband with them. Which package you should go for depends on what you use your internet for. iPlayer? Torrenting (if you don't know what that is then don't worry because you don't do it :) )? Or just emails etc?

Further to what I was saying earlier, torrented something just after 4PM and I was getting 150kb/s, which is fine for me. It may even have been the number of seeds limiting it rather than traffic management, so I'm quite happy as I am...
  • Just to confirm - during the initial 6 months free, is it ok to not top up my O2 mobile, and still have the BB for free?

That is what I gathered from reading posts like that quoted, just want to make sure.

Before the 6 months are up, I guess I start topping up again. I ask because the O2 sim is my backup phone, so there is a lot of unused credit on it.

    No.

Whilst you are getting free months they don't take the £5 mobile discount into their calculations (ie they bill the full amount and credit the full amount to get it back to zero)

Are people who got six months free on their legacy package on PAYG or Pay Monthly or does it not make any difference?
