Hi
I have been with o2 for a couple of years and only use broadband and pay at present £12.77 and that mine will go up to £14.50 I had sent various e-mails complaining about the high increase, all they said it was to increase the service,k no apologies, no negotiations, I am thinking of going over to Pulsenet, it seems they are only interested in the money, the thing is I was always recommending o2 to friends, but that did not bother them, I think people should leave o2, they say they are the cheapest - rubbish - there are cheaper ones out there, maybe when they realise people cannot afford to pay the increase they will think twice, you would think in the present climate with everything going up, except wages they would think twice!! well we are, so lets all leave o2!!!!!0 -

Good advice .....however anybody who phones should go through "im going to leave route and talk to retentions". Follow the pre recorded messages to arrive there.sanfly0 -
I was paying £10 / month, they sent me an e-mail saying ot would be increased to £18 / month with the get out clause. So feeling agrieved I changed to BT as I already have BT Phone. O2 tried offering me a better deal when I phoned. But they had shot their bolt by then. They had already lost me as a two mobile contract phone user last year because they wouldn't match a deal offerred by T-Mobile, even without customer loyalty. Not sure what planet O2 are on these days, they seem to be on an illusion that they are somehow superior to other phone service providers. Never mind their loss. I had been with them for 7 years.0

Does anyone know how I can tell how much my monthly usage is with my O2 broadband. Reading the website there should be something to tell me when I log into the site at my o2 but I cannot see anything or is it just the new packages that tell you usage not the legacy ones? Cheers, Pete.0

Starving_Artist wrote:I decided to stay on the standard package. What brought it home to me was Jem16's reminder about speed restrictions. I don't download a lot but I'm watching more and more iplayer, streaming etc so if the new package wasn't going to allow that it was dead in the water.
Good job traffic management doesn't apply to streaming and iplayer then. If anything the traffic management is towards helping improve streaming speeds and quality.
EDIT - to correct the above thanks to Sponge (see next page) - traffic management DOES apply to streaming, just nowhere near as badly as it does to downloading. Even the basics should be fast enough to stream Standard Def iPlayer and The All Rounder and up should easily be capable of streaming High Def iPlayer (see next page for details)It looks like a good deal but I'm not sure about the cap. We play Xbox 360 and the PS3 everyday for around 4 hours a day, download around 2GB a day and go on Youtube alot, though no MSN etc.
The traffic management on O2 does not affect online gaming, streaming (iplayer or youtube) etc... It only affects downloading i.e. torrents.there are cheaper ones out there, maybe when they realise people cannot afford to pay the increase they will think twice, you would think in the present climate with everything going up, except wages they would think twice!! well we are, so lets all leave o2!!!!![/COLOR]
If anyone can point me in the direction of a provider that will charge me less than £7 a month for up to 100GB download (without needing to change phone provider) then i'll happily move to them.Does anyone know how I can tell how much my monthly usage is with my O2 broadband.
If you are on the new packages then I think you can login to see... if you're on the old packages though there is no way they can tell you. If you ring up they can estimate your usage by asking how much you do X, Y and Z but hardly scientific.
Don't get me wrong on the above comments - if you download anything then the traffic management is sh*t... but a lot of people who don't download are getting their knickers in a twist over nothing.A big believer in karma, you get what you give :A
If you find my posts useful, "pay it forward" and help someone else out, that's how places like MSE can be so successful.0 -

There are plenty of reports on thinkbroadband (o2 forum) of folk discovering that youtube/iplayer etc are virtually unuseable during the 16:00 to midnight peak period since they switched package (esp those on basics).0 -

You can download a month's free trial of DU meter, which is what I've recently done to check my usage. Legacy customers don't have that info available from O2 being unlimited usage deals.0 -

Lifes grand plan - I do torrent but certainly not a heavy user. In fact I haven't yet needed to torrent anything since switching over. I guess I'll see how it goes, but certainly for normal browsing its no different.0
