i am on the standard broadband package with line rental, had a email saying it is going up to £19.50 per month, called up today and no questions got £2.50 off per month for 12 months.0

Before accepting reductions in the monthly fee when extending your contract by 12 months have a read through this thread and see they are offering much better deals if you refuse the £2.50 etc off per month.
6 months free is equivalent to a 50% reduction on the monthly fee and is easy to achieve!0 -
You can download a month's free trial of DU meter, which is what I've recently done to check my usage. Legacy customers don't have that info available from O2 being unlimited usage deals.
I have started using the networx bandwidth monitor which is free, but as I have only been using it for just under 2 months it doesn't really tell me long term what my usage would be, which is why I was hoping to find out via the o2 site, but cheers for that.0 -

The traffic management on O2 does not affect online gaming, streaming (iplayer or youtube) etc... It only affects downloading i.e. torrents.
Don't get me wrong on the above comments - if you download anything then the traffic management is sh*t... but a lot of people who don't download are getting their knickers in a twist over nothing.
Check out my post. Streaming, iPlayer, YouTube, etc are managed, unless you're on 'The Works'

Reading this thread gave the inclination to try and call up to get a better deal (currently on 'legacy' basics).
I was actually happy to accept the increase as believe they are still very competitive - but only on the legacy. I was considering the allrounder as 100gig should do me fine plus you get a decent N modem with a USB port giving you opportunity to network far easily in the household.
I've just been offered a 12-month contract tie in, but at £7 per month on the same package. Just realised I'm actually £27 worse off than those who got 6 months free. Not long got off the phone, is it worth calling back or think just stay put?0 -
Not read the whole thread ,got my letter this morning regarding new prices & called them ,taken a new 12mth contract with 6mths free @ £9.50 per month ,i'm happy with that .Gotta love a good bargain !0

Thats what happened to us, we rang and got the better deal, probably depends who you get on the other end of the phone...sanfly0 -
You've 14 days to change your mind so try ringing back and saying 'actually I want my MAC after all, unless you've a better deal.'0

Hi Guys, Can you help me please.
Just rang o2 - spoke to a very nice chap, however I feel quite confused as to what is best to do !
We dont stream, or do the iplayer, or down load films.
He offered new packages at :-
The Basic package - 20gigs download at £8.50 per month but will let me have it for £5.50. Or
The Allrounder 100gigs at £12.50 but will let me have it for £9.50.
I told him that we are only getting about 1.5 speed anyway, and we are only 1 mile from the Exchange. !!
He then said I will send you a new Router N class for free with the Allrounder.
I could stay on my old package (Premium £10.00) with a deduction of £2.50
Please help me - so confused .....and how come they are unable to tell you straight and outright what your Usage is anyway !! ??
Thank you0 -

Sorry, yes you are of course correct. Will go back and edit my post to avoid confusion.
However I am on "The All Rounder" package and with a 4meg line, I am probably wrong but I don't think iplayer would need anywhere near the 8Mb/s that is allowed under traffic management.
O2 claim you "should get a decent streaming experience with an 800 kbits/s (equivalent to 0.8 Mbits/s) connection speed."
Therefore even on the basics package you should be ok but the All Rounder should be ok for HD content (requiring 3.7 - 6 Mbits/s according to O2)
Sorry for any confusion.A big believer in karma, you get what you give :A
