I listed the names of the apps they mention, though...
If the links don't work, I advise Googling them.
... or by searching the names on the Android Market, which might be quicker.

Probably one could use a file explorer like estrongs to wirelessly explore your computer over WiFi or Bluetooth and copy the necessary files over.

Not all file explorers can explore your computer. Some just explore the microSD card only, some do the card and internal memory, some can explore your computer too.

There are enough apps for the bookmarks. Or you could use Chrome to phone or FireFox to phone apps. Use Chrome or FireFox to copy your IE bookmarks then as above. For contacts you can just synch your contacts to gmail and bring it over to the phone. I haven't tried the computer synch but have tried HTC synch, gmail and yahoo synch and Chrome to phone and estrongs and a few bookmark apps (don't remember which) and sms synch apps.

Or see if anything on this link helps http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Calendar/thread?tid=164e7f691cb1abb8&hl=en or http://www.google.com/support/calendar/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=89955

Synchdroid looks good, can access the website now, see the chart http://www.syncdroid.net/

    Good discussion going here.

From someone's point of view who hasn't an iphone or android (still using an n95 lol) I have wanted an iphone for quite a while. However, I could never justify the cost when you factor everything in. I could never justify the £35 a month contract and pay a large amount for the phone (I only pay £10 a month currently) and only started looking before xmas, however when I looked at the android phones I realised they are just as good as the iphone4 - yet you can get a decent sat nav (google - I know you can get navfree, but I've seen it in use and it's not too good). There is also one app I really needed which is not present at all on the iphone (I won't mention it as you'll only argue about it).

Secondly, I amazed how much second hand phones go for - over £200 for a second hand 3GS? no thanks. But for £30 a month you can have a 300min contract and the latest android phone for free! Now all I'm debating is what to get, I've narrowed it down to HTC Desire HD, Nexus S and LG Optimus 2x (when that comes out) - I think it's worth the extra £5-10 a month to get the latest phone (for me anyway), so don't really see the point of a cheap android (HTC Wildfire).

I dare say my I'll keep my new phone for several years, I've had my n95 for years now and it has been great and served it's purpose. However phones have really taken a big leap in the last 2-3 years, so it's time for me to get with the times. I can't see many improvements beyond today's phones - yes they can get faster, bigger camera/video def, better batteries etc but it will be a while until we get the next big step imho. Maybe NFC kicking off big time will be the next thing?!?

Edit: I'm leaning to the LG Optimus 2x (I'm prepared to wait a month), what do you all think?
  • For me personally I would of loved android had I not of used iOS first. When I got my nokia 5800 I loved it, it was my first smart phone. Then I went to iOS and I went WOW again, then I went to android and it was an anti climax, like I was moving backward.

I've had a good shot of someone's iPhone now, and to me the iPhone felt like a step back actually. Really poor ability to customise the home screen, compared to the HTC Sense I've got on my Android. Quite a few apps I had that they couldn't find on the App Store (though I can't remember offhand which ones, I can check again with her later). The things I preferred on the iPhone were better music making apps and MUCH better internal speakers (HTC Desire's are really tinny).

Maybe it's all a matter of what you want from a phone. I want the openness and customisation (and saved money) that comes from owning an Android device... but an iPhone can mean easier integration with other Apple products and less time spent researching what music app, etc, to use. Android suits me, iPhones suit others. As long as people actually do their research, try before buying, and don't buy based on the hype either way. I've got friends who can't explain why they bought their iPhone like I can explain why I bought my Android (spec wise, price wise), they just say "because it's an iPhone! It's amazing! It's so shiny!". Talk about blinded by product hype! It's probably why they can sell it for such an extortionate price when other devices can do the same things for cheaper.

The other thing I really hate is you can never test the phones before you buy. Why do phone shops only have dummy models (expense I guess)? I also think it's pointless asking the salespeople and it's easy looking at reviews online (particularly youtube is good).

My 3GS has now been replaced with a HTC Wildfire - no regrets, amazing compared to 3GS which has more bugs than a hostel in Thailand, 17 months of being Apple's BETA tester is now over :D

A 12 month contract on 3/The One Plan for £20 a month from Sim Zero - amazing value & phone - thankyou 3 Retentions ;)

i-Phone is hyped by America as it was thier first major 3G handset as the States lagged behind the world in 3G advancements in upgrading thier mobile networks...I may get a i-phone 7 if Apple pull thier !!! out to impress me by then.
SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe ;)
