Apple try to re invent the wheel.

How many phones could take video before Apple released the 3GS? Who could video call before Facetime?

Take the HTC Desire HD,Samsung Galaxy S,Nexus S etc etc and all the new phones that are on their way.

Android gives you choice,Apple tells you what handset and apps you are allowed along with the functions. Take the whole Flash Video thing, because one person at Apple doesn't like it, you aren't allowed to use it.

To the poster who saaid 'if you can live without the apps' may i suggest you break the trend of an iphone user and go to your local shop and have a look at an Android phone.

Android is taking over the hold of the Mobile Market and so much so Nokia are thinking of taking it on too.

I totally agree with what you. It always been the case, Apple brings a product out (iPhone) and then everyone started to think differently.

Apple brings in the new ideas, but eventually gets stomped by competitors such a Blackberry, Samsung.

Clear example is the iPad, now Blackberry is coming out playbook, Samsung have it lil Tab which is s^it. And Motorola is coming out with xoom:).

You can clearly see the trend.

Apple will always have customers due it its pure genius new ideas. Rest of the brands just follow it:).

And no, I dont work for Apple, if u were wondering.:T

That's what Apple would have you believe. But they didn't invent DAP players, tablet computers or smart phones. They did make their's very stylish, fashionable and easy to use however and kudos to them for that. What they do (and they do very well) is take existing technical products and concepts and make them accessible and easy to use for the mass market.

I have a 3GS and I because of the way iOS is so locked down, I thought moving to android would be a good idea, I bought a Galaxy S, excellent phone but I can't help but feel I might regret it, The Galaxy S is better than the iPhone in every way but I don't know I still have a little niggly feeling I might regret it. Did I make the right move?

Just get a android to use along with the Iphone lol, I just got a android and I already had a Ipod touch and a try on some iphones of my friends I think they have a different market Iphone is locked down, but is more established with more apps, android is less established therefore as less and needs time for it to catch up with iphone, but it has more freedom than the iphone, like easily changing to a custom ringtone and the ability to have a memory card slot, which most phone does.

Is there something significant that you can't find an Android app to do?

As i have posted many times before No not found one i need that is not available on Android .

With 27% of the OS market share Q3 2010 and more Android phones including dual core due for release i would expect more and more apps in the store . New Google ITunes type whatever they are going to call it ( GoogleTunes ) is in development as well .

In effect a broad spectrum as Android is an OS not a phone .
Cheap end through all price ranges to high end its users choice .
More appearing all the times so i would not hazard a guess at number .
