im contemplating the same move tbh. My 3gs with Tesco is up within the month and I'm thinking about Android again, especially as I've just bought my son a San Francisco. I can probably sell my 3gs and put the funds towards something like a HTC Desire HD, I really need something with the biggest screen since I use the internet features more than the phone ones. Any ideas what the best phone would be or if something is just around the corner that fits the bill as best internet experience.

Motorola Atrix and LG Optimus 2 are just round the corner and would prob fit the bill perfectly in terms of large screens.

Well had the SGS out for the first time today, was about worried about it to be honest, thought the battery maybe wouldn't last the day, Took it of the charger at 5am, listened to 8 hrs of audio at work, checked twitter, checked emails and here we are battery at 60%, I'm impressed with that, its better than my iPhone, the FM radio is also the best I've had on a phone, no static at all, Have to say I am impressed, There is nothing I am missing about the iPhone. The only issue I have with the Galaxy is it feels a bit fragile, build quality isn't the greatest, gonna get a hard shell for it I think

its all preferance really...i like the iphone.

the only thing...people say we are being brain washed by apple, but don't alot of these people who say this have ipods?, (i know a few on my friends have ipods and have a HTC, blackberry, etc). i don't know many people who have sony mp3 players...(let the bashing commence!)

Are people becoming sheep for having the latest HTC phone?

i know i'm gonna prob get slated for this :o)

Not everyone has iPods. Other DAPs are available.

    I have a Zen Stone :)

I'm not big on MP3 players to be honest, having my ears closed off makes me feel queazy.. no idea why that is!

I was tempted with the ipod touch but more as a app machine than an mp3 player. I resisted and got an affordable San Francisco instead.

I'm not totally against Apple though - currently saving up for a computer :j
  • Ive not got any mp3 player at all other than my phone but saying that all my mp3 tracks are on dvd so i can play them on the car stereo with much better sound then what i get on the headphones.
  • There's not really anything you can do with the iPhone that you can't do on Android, except for saying "I have an iPhone". In my opinion Android is the way forward and the better operating system, you can get a free version of most "must have" iPhone apps for Android and you can get a lot more functionality from your phone without the need to jailbreak it (although rooting is an option).

A lot of it is down to personal preference, but in my experience more people move from iPhone to Android than move from Android to iPhone :)

I have a 3GS and I because of the way iOS is so locked down, I thought moving to android would be a good idea, I bought a Galaxy S, excellent phone but I can't help but feel I might regret it, The Galaxy S is better than the iPhone in every way but I don't know I still have a little niggly feeling I might regret it. Did I make the right move?

No matter what the technical differences may be if you have the doubt now you'll have it for the life of the phone and contract.

No arguments for or against Apple or Android will ever really persuade you otherwise.

It is the brainwashing that's getting to me, iPhones are made out to be the holy grail of mobile phones.

Better possibly though any advantage is shrinking fast .
Worth the extra money over HTC Desire or SGS only if £50 more otherwise overpriced .

But its users choice and users bank balance .

    jje

The whole mobile industry thinks the Iphone is the holy grail, hence the reason they all try to replicate its success.

Apple haters who make idiot comments like 'as i dont play games or install fart machines i may not fit an Apple users profile as regards apps' are as boring and annoying as the idiot apple fans who say stupid things like 'well, just because you can't afford it...'.

Seriously, the iPhone is an amazing device, but it, like any other phone, has it's faults. No bluetooth file transfer being one, £10 Nokia's have this, yet a £500 smartphone doesn't?!? Epic fail.

I have an iPhone 4, I love it, why? Because it does everything I personally want my phone to do. If the restrictions presented by the locked down iOS prevented me doing the things I wanted with my phone, I'd get a different type of smart phone. Simple. I don't have an iPod, I have a Sony and a Cowon, I don't have a mac, I have a windows PC, so I'd not say I was brainwashed by apple. I would say I liked the iPhone and don't regret spending £500 on.

If the Galaxy does everything you want your phone to do, then no, I don't think you'll regret it at all.
