ive just this minute cancelled my full package in favour of the G1 package.
i now get, all the sky sports channels and movies 2,4,6 & 8 (no disney channels) for £34 month.
saves me £7 month.0 -
just got a letter addressed to the previous owner(we been here 2 years) offering him 6 months half price on top four packages or brand now box fitted free with a new subscription ???
Can't you pretend the letter was addressed to you (easy mistake to make, you know, opening the letter and not realising...)
If there is a code to quote to them to get the offer, it'll probably work.
BTW - After I got the deal - full package for £20.50 for 3 months, I got a letter from Sky just saying "As you weren't sure what package you wanted please ring us asap"!!!!!!
I thought I'd better ring to make sure I'd got it OK. I had but it cost me a phonecall! >:(0 -
Don't be afraid to cancel your Sky TV now and again, it's only TV after all. If they do offer to simply cancel your subscription for you (which is rare - they will normally take you through the "Are you sure you can live without it" then the "Reduce to a lower priced package" then the "Special 3 Month Discount offer" routine) then take that time to read a good book.
You will most likely find that you haven't finished your book before their telemarketing department are calling you asking why you cancelled and if you would consider coming back - in which case you would ofcourse say "No, I am happy without it - I am becoming quite cultured with all this literature I am finding time to read nowadays" To which they may well reply with a tempting 3 month offer.
I don't recommend being a quiet, unassuming customer - for any luxury service you pay for regularly. Mix it up a little - Cancel it now and again, reduce the level of service you wish to pay for.
A general peice of advice, apply it as you will:
Be a little less predictable, it makes you more interesting and attract more attention.0 -
:)Just got my sports package changed to the G1 package, thanks for the tip.
There is nothing on the Sky website offering this or even mentioning the G1 package.
Typical Sky!!!!0 -
Thanks very much! Just changed my package from sports to G1. I'll have to pay an extra 77p this month then an extra quid a month thereafter ;D0

Hi,
could someone explain about this G1 package please. I am on the full package at present, half price for three months obviously!!
The only channels I am interested in really are Disney, sport and perhaps a couple of movies, but not essential. We also watch E4, and ITV2. The rest can go!!
Any help would be greatly received.
ThanksLBM 12.09.12 - £53K in debt.
DFD - 11.07.2019 (OMG).
New DFD is 28.10.2018 due to paying the absolute maximum.
Thanks to everyone on the DMP forum, and to SC for helping me out of this huge hole.0 -
Hi,
My first post on here so go easy :P
I rang Sky last night and gave them the not happy with the cost and repeats and needing to cut down bills and thinking about Freeview and everything else i could think of and they just said Ok
They put me through to contracts who just said the same and notified me i will be cancelled in 30 days and they even gave me a final payment price :-/
What now ? I don`t want to loose Sky for the sake of a game of bluff :-[0 -
hi
on 29th day of notice give them a ring and tell them you have changed you mind for the time being and you still have the sky ;DHonesty is the best policy doesn't matter which web site
you are on!
if i had known then what i know now!
a bargain is only a bargain if you really need it!0 -
rang Sky this morning and said that I wanted to cancel' they said I couldn't because the account is in hubby's name.
We already pay full package of £41 month.
So when he got in from work I coached him for half an hour and then let him loose on the phone, he told them he wanted to cancel, said that daughter had gone off to college and only she ever watched it (daughter only 12 but wishful thinking)
they put him through to cancellations where he repeated it, he managed to get next month for £13 and following 2 months for £20.50,
a star or what
don't know why I ever doubted him

Thanks Pingu,
I was thinking thas what to do anyway, its just a bummer i try it and don`t get the offer :-[
I know me and i`m right stubborn,i might just end up going through with the cancellation in anger at not getting the offer !
Still, there is always a chance Sky might ring up and try to keep me.Last year i was with singlepoint on a mobile contract and wanted out,was not interested in deals and had hell of a job, they were throwing free months at me like it was going out of buisness...Sky take note !!!
Anyway,i`m sure i`ll save money on other ways through here ;D
Anyone else get knocked back on this attempt ?0
